Last Post of the year Twenty Ten

I want to leave this world with words
and with such words I shall leave this last year behind
How can I be
How can I do
How can I
end this journey alone without being blue
Such a year
What a year
Time has passed and another is on its way for me to caress
to hold, to touch, to embrace...
Maybe it's time for me to not worry about being misunderstood
Maybe it's time for me to really move towards dreams yet achieved
Proven real
Hidden talents to show
A new year, a new beginning... a new chapter in our lives.
The road is unfinished... paved but cracked and still need amend
... let this be the last post... and may y'all have a
happy new year~!
I'm out~

2010 Favourite Products

Hi lovelies!
I hope you all are having a fantastic holiday season! It's summer here and it has been raining non stop! Floods are happening around the country.

So, I saw this post going around blogs and I thought it'd be fun to do one... was thinking of making a video of it but it might turn out to be too long...

It sure is fun doing the current favourites etc but here would be a run down the list of products that top the list in terms of ... well, in my life! This will be a special post... Without further adue...

Makeup

Foundation: Oh how many have I gone through this year to find the one I'm happiest with. After a little debate... I have to say my favourite, which I have been supporting almost everyday for the past few weeks or so... would be this blend of 2: MAC Pro Longwear Foundation (NC30) & Lancome Teint Miracle (03). It lasts all day, totally cancels out my redness (since I blush easily) and keeps my face looking flawless all day. It does not crack or disappear and work friendly. It may even be gym friendly!
EDIT: Hourglass Veil Fluid Foundation - this is waterproof and lasts all day - has skincare properties and doesn't break me out - the foundation I used every single day while I was in hot humid days in Singapore and Indonesia

Concealer: Hmm... I haven't been using much concealer, mostly just using the foundation on particular spots. However, I've been loving YSL Touche Eclat as undereye concealer/brightener! The MAC Pro Longwear concealer is also not bad, though I think I might have to get a shade lighter... The NC30 concealer can look slightly orange on me sometimes...

Powder: Maybelline Dream Matte Powder ... has surprisingly beaten all the other powders I have! Even those high end ones! I think this may be the end of my search - a HG product - wow! Though, I do use the MAC Invisible Prep + Prime Powder or RCMA Powder No Color for undereyes

Blush: Gorgeous Cosmetics Pro Colour in Marshmellow mixed with Rhubarb (I think? Unfortunately I don't remember this other color and mine is in the quad so I can't check the name), MAC Pro Blush in Cantaloupe, ELF Blush from the Blush & Bronzing Duo

Bronzer: MAC Golden bronzer, ELF Bronzer from the Blush & Bronzing Duo, NARS Laguna

Highlighter: YSL Touche Eclat set with NARS Nico, Gorgeous Cosmetics Conceal It Concealing Cream in Light Neutral

Eyeshadow: Hourglass Visionaire Eyeshadow Duo in Suede, Guerlain Ombre Eclat Duo & Liner in L'Heure Bronzer 382, The lightest shade from Smashbox Eyeshadow Quad in Smolder (Thanking Roseanne for this quad!)

Eyeliner: Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink hands down!!

Eyeshadow Primer/Base: Urban Decay Primer Potion + Gorgeous Cosmetics Conceal It Concealer Cream in Light Medium

Eyelash Curler: Gorgeous Cosmetics or Shiseido

Mascara: Now this is a tricky one... I've gone through a few different ones all in Black and Waterproof. Maybelline Full 'n' Soft, MaxFactor Aqua Lash, MaxFactor Masterpiece, CoverGirl Volume Exact. I remember being happy with CoverGirl Lash Blast too hahaha... to name a few that I was happy with. Although, Maybelline Full 'n' Soft might top the list here.

Lipstick: Guerlain Kiss Kiss Stick Gloss in 962 Grape Juice, Maybelline Colorsensational in 145 Plaza Pink, MAC Mellow Mood from A Tartan Tale collection, MAC Blooming Lovely from Liberty of London collection, Guerlain Kiss Kiss Maxi Shine in 643 Chocolate Shine

Lipgloss: Hourglass Prodigy in Opium, MAC Hot House from Disney collection, Smashbox Location

Nail Polish:
MAC Brown Bag, MAC In the Buff, OPI Rumple's Wiggin' from Shrek collection

BODY

Shower gel/soap: Still looking for 1 I really really like... been sort of changing and getting sick of them one by one... Palmolive shower gels are okay... Lush Vanilla in the Mist smells good and so does Porridge soap... but not exactly favourite favourite...

Body lotion/cream: I use body powder Lush Vanilla Puff Powder (plus, it's summer here) but when I do, I use my Grown Vanilla & Orange Peel cream or Nivea cream in jar

Body exfoliator: Lush sugar scrub, Lush Mask of Magnaminty and I want to try Lush Rub Rub Rub

Hand cream: Grown - Vanilla & Orange Peel

Lip balm/treatment: MAC Lip conditioner in jar, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Protectant cream

Perfume: Kate by Kate Moss, Versace Woman (and I secretly wanting Chloe)

FACE

Cleanser: Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleanser, Lush Herbalism mixed with L'Occitane Olive Facial Foam

Toner: Lush Eau Roma Water

Moisturiser: Lancome Hydra Zen, The Face Shop White Tree EX Vita Cream, Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Refining Moisture Cream Complex, L'Occitane Olive Facial Lotion

Facial Mask: Lush ... Mask of Magnaminty, Brazened Honey, Oatifix

Exfoliator: Cure Natural Aqua Gel (I still want to try Laneige Strawberry Yoghurt!)

Makeup Remover: Neutrogena Night Calming Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes (Face Wipes - purple packaging) and for the eyes - Missha The Style (when I can get them) or if not, Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover works best for me out of the other brands out there

Aah, so there we have it... my favourites... =)

Rambless...

So it's my weekend off and I decided to watch Marley & Me on dvd. End result? Swollen red eyes flooded with tears that did not end until the credits started rolling. Is it just the moment or is the movie really such a tearjerker a quarter to the end? Maybe I'm just so caught up in the moment, watching the movie while my baby dog is fast asleep on my lap with his eyes occasionally peeking through his blue blanket softly gazing at me. Maybe it's the thought that someday he would die. Maybe I'm just emotional or maybe I'm such a soft kind-hearted person... hahahaha...

As I am writing this, Rama (my baby dog's name) is chewing on a New Zealand sheep soft toy souvenir. Oh, wait, why is he chewing on it!? Be right back.

Alright, back. I just took it off him and he just stared at me as though saying, "why did you do that for?" I just stared back. Sometimes I just watch him and think how cute he is... or how handsome he is... when in fact, he could be such a spoiled brat.

I mean, one second he would be sleeping soundly hugging his favourite toy or favourite blanket. Then just the tiniest sound of someone in the kitchen would wake him up and he'd dash to the kitchen wondering whether there's food for him. He is, endlessly hungry. He also looks like he's endlessly smiling. So you get angry at him, maybe for chewing tissues or just rummaging through the rubbish bin, then he gives you those two puppy eyes... and you melt. Gosh!

He hates lawnmowers, the sound of it... He also hates blowdryer. He would bark at it as though it's going to eat him up. He gets so picky with people it's ridiculously interesting. And boy, does he shed...

There are times when you thought of giving up and just don't want to deal with things, Rama is one of them... yet, I think life really is about all these good and bad blended together and what makes us alive.

If it's good, it's wonderful... if it's bad, it's experience... no regrets (quote from Drizzy Drake)

I look at Rama sleeping under my chair... curled up innocently... how bliss is life for him...

TAG: Would You Rather... (Beauty Edition)

So I thought I'd do a tag post... long overdue...

Questions:
1.Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice make-up or nice hair and no make-up?
I'd say, messy hair and makeup, just because some hairstyles are actually good lookin' messy anyway =) or I can just tie them in a bun or something.

2.Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?
Oh Gosh!! Neither!! But if I really had to... then eyelashes, cause I'd just wear false eyelashes

3.Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?
Definitely Sephora. (Note: we don't have Sephora in Australia...)

4.Would you rather wear lipgloss/lipliner look or 80's perm?
LOL! Uhm... lipgloss/lipliner... bcuzzzzz that could be a funky look you're just trying out haha I don't think I can rock an 80's perm... I'd be... just... it'd just be wrong on me.

5.Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?
Neither!! I hate both! Uhm... but maybe I'd go with obvious foundation line... then I'd just go to a counter and have them makeup artists rematch my foundation hahaha... or just wipe the whole thing off. Overdone blush... sometimes you may be able to pull it off... but most times... no.

6.Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public?
Biker shorts... I'd find ways to wear them in style ;) Hahaha... In fact, I have worn biker shorts in public lol...

7.Would you rather have a bad orange-y spray tan or really weird tan lines that can't be covered?
Definitely the weird tan lines that can't be covered... I used to always have them and took me years to finally clear them... but tan lines just really means you've been spending days at the sun or been swimming... so I'd rather have that natural tan ... than the yucky orangey fake spray tan. Ugh... Snooki-style? No thanks.

8.Would you rather have a bad haircut or bad hair color?
I'd rather have bad hair color... 'cause I'd redye it or something... bad haircut.. is hard to pull off... but then again I could get extensions... hahaha!!

9.Would you rather have youtube or twitter taken away forever?
Twitter. I wouldn't want youtube taken away!! Videos and everything... The world needs more of YouTube than twitter =)

10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara?
Mascara. Because there are some things in makeup application that are best applied using brush and plus, if there's no mascara, there's actually those small small brush to use as mascara brush anyway ;) As much as I love mascaras... makeup brushes win.

Last but not least... I shall leave you with a lovely look of Dior 2011

I now tag ALL OF YOU who wants to do this ^_^

Radwimps - Order Made 「オーダーメイド」 English Subtitles

My sister showed me this song awhile back... more than a year ago...
The lyrics just.... and the representation... just... I like it.

Having 1 mouth... Having 1 heart...
And having the spaces between your fingers...

For all those who have found their other half - ^^
For all those still in search of their other half... it'll come

Whatever: Carpe Diem

Wish I could fly
When my heart's out on my sleeves
Don't you care how much it hurts
When my heart's cut open for all to see

Why don't you just spare me the grief and say it out right what you really want

(If) Life is indeed too short...
to wake up with regrets...
to watch the clouds pass by...
to reflect on the things done and gone
to say it's not too late...
that things do happen for a reason...
that time truly waits for nobody and
either give it your all or not give at all
is living this way really what it's all about
carpe diem, carpe diem...
the day ... this day ...
makes me think...
the moments of life...
makes me think...
was it really all...
carpe diem...
I shall love the people who treats me right
how can I forget those others that don't.

-Here I am just rambling on things that's been weighing on my mind. I think I might just start this whole Whatever series ... when I feel like just writing anything ... that is on my mind.

What are you thankful for?

Since it is Happy Thanksgiving over in the US right now... I thought I'd do a post on "What are you thankful for?" - Y'see... I don't think here in Australia people celebrate Thanksgiving. But so what, right, doesn't give me a reason not to be thankful for things in life =) and do a post on it... Teehee!

1) I'm thankful for... technology... y'know, telephone, the internet...
How amazing is the internet... it allows you to connect to people from all around the world and makes long distance communications thaaatttt much easier. I'm thankful for YouTube and Facebook. Hahahahaha....

2) I'm thankful for ... music
I can't imagine a world without it ... what happens when you are feeling sad and down? what happens if you can't relate to songs when your heart is broken? Or when you laying awake in the middle of the night just thinking and staring into the dark? Music... when words spoken become superfluous, music comes to the rescue

3) I'm thankful for... my sisters
My best friends, know me all too well, the good and the bad...

4) I'm thankful for... my heart
It's still beating and waiting patiently to beat double its time, despite being broken too many times before

5) I'm thankful for... makeup
It brightens your day in times when you feel down... a pop of blush always makes one glow no matter how cliche that sounds

I might add more... but for now... those are the 5 things I'm thankful for...

What are you thankful for?

"Agents of Secret Stuff"

Starring:
Ryan Higa - Aden (Agent of Secret Stuff)
Arden Cho - Taylor

^_^ Enjoy!

Katy Perry - Firework

I thought I'd share... and the lyric says it all...

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting throught the wind
Wanting to start again

Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards
One blow from caving in

Do you ever feel already buried deep
Six feet under scream
But no one seems to hear a thing
...
You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you're reason why all the doors are closed
So you can open one that leads you to the perfect road
-

I'm not one with too many words lately, and when I do open my mouth it's either a mumble or a rambling or a mumble jumble of undecipherable words... so I'm left with the unspoken...

A Piece of Me in November 2010

This month....

I like: souvlaki's and liking the fact that I'm hitting pan on my first MAC product! The Golden bronzer! And like a G6! Like a G6! And Danny Bhoy... and and Hok from Quest Crew - oh can he dance!! David Choi's "By my side", Kina Grannis "Valentine" ...

I don't like: walking under the burning sun and realising that I'm running out of sunscreens!!

I want you to know: that I'm looking forward in moving forward in this life that I'm living

I've planned: to travel more

I want to say to someone special: ...

Collective Review: My Hourglass Cosmetics

Hourglass is in the air!

Taken from the Facebook page
A line that truly embodies modern luxury, Hourglass Cosmetics combines timeless extravagance and style all in one elegant collection. From lush shades to incredibly luxurious packaging, makeup has never been so stunning – or perfecting. Created by beauty veteran Carisa Janes, each innovative product is formulated with the latest cosmetic technology and cutting-edge ingredients - many containing anti-aging properties. Offering a full collection of color cosmetics and brushes, Hourglass is renowned for its “complexion perfecting” products such as Veil Fluid Makeup, Veil Mineral Primer, and Illusion Tinted Moisturizer.

I was first introduced to Hourglass when I was browsing through Sephora Singapore beginning of this year. However, Hourglass was born in the year 2004 - Los Angeles. I had not heard much about it then but I knew I was in need of a new foundation, one that does not only look good but also feels good. At that time I was an Everyday Minerals user and even though I did like the mineral products I found it rather messy and inconvenient. I had a voucher and Hourglass was one of the brands listed. Since it boasts skincare benefits and Matrixyl to stimulate the production of collagen and to improve skin's texture, I was intrigued right away. I started with the foundation and concealer and built my collection from there ever since. You can read more about Carisa Janes HERE

Hourglass is formulated without parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes and no phthalates (substances added to plastics to increase their durability, flexibility, longevity, and transparency). Their liquid eyeliner lasts all day, does not smear or smudge and is waterproof.

The line consists of: (as of this moment available at Mecca Cosmetica)
  • Veil Mineral Primer Oil Free SPF15
  • Veil Fluid Makeup Oil Free SPF15
  • Veil Invisible Loose Powder
  • Solar Tan Self-Tanning Primer
  • Illusion Tinted Moisturiser SPF15
  • Hidden Concealer
  • Oxygen Mineral Compact Powder Foundation
  • Prodigy Hydrating Lip Gloss
  • Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss
  • Adorn Lipstick
  • Visionaire Eyeshadow Duo
  • Calligraphy Liquid Eyeliner
  • Trace Eyeliner (Refillable)
  • Trace Lipliner (Refillable)
  • Mascara
  • Illume Creme-to-Powder Blush/Bronzer Duo in Sunset
  • Illume Creme-to-Powder Highlighter/Bronzer Duo in Bronze Light
  • Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick (Refillable)
  • Brushes

So after almost a year of using their products, here I am, sharing with you, my Hourglass collection.

MAC A Tartan Tale & FOTD

MAC A Tartan Tale - inspired by the Scottish kilts and colours, MAC has created a gianormous collection this holiday 2010 as some parts of the world is heading towards winter and some parts going to summer, like I am here in Australia. Another thing, this is officially my first MAC Holiday purchase :)

If I had a bank safe like Ebenezer Scrooge, I'd pick up more things and more, but because I don't... and I do try to justify my purchase in whether I would use them, I went home with 1 pack. However, this is only Chapter 1. Chapter 2 of the collection will be out in Australia in 2 weeks - this will include the mini sets, mini pigments, mini lipglosses, mini nail polishes. Wait, did I just say mini nail polishes!? Now that's going in my wishlist, fo'sure! I
(heart) nail polishes...

So let me just share a little snapshots I managed to take of this collection at my local MAC store. This one was taken at David Jones, Queens Plaza, Brisbane City using my 3G iphone hahaha... me being sneaky, y'know...

The pearlglider eyeliners, eyeshadows with the prints, lipglosses, nail polishes, pigments, and the 2 vibrant blushes

The brushes sets with uber cute brush bags
But honestly, I'd give these a miss unless you really want the bag and the convenience of the mini brushes. The quality of these compared to the regular line is so different. Look at the 187, I can't understand why they would do such thing to the 187, it looks nothing like the regular 187. Anyway, enough of my rant...

Here's a look of the sets...:
- 2 Face Kits
- 2 Lip Packs + Zip Up Bag
- 2 Eye Packs + Zip Up Bag
- 2 Lip Palettes
- 4 Eyeshadow Palettes

Aren't they cute! But I wish they have prints or decorations on the actual individual blushes or the lipsticks... it'd make them even more... memorable and distinguishable, I'd reckon. Just my opinion, y'know...

So here's what I came home with...
One side...
The other side...

And out came...
It opens...
Description on the back of the box
Out came...
Ta Da!!
Some close ups... testing out my new camera =)
The Lipstick - Mellow Mood
The Lipgloss - Baby Sparks

Officially my first MAC lipliner - In Synch

I have not tried them as yet, but colour-wise, they are lovely pinks that I'd wear anytime of the day and night. I can just bring these anywhere and put them on without a doubt... No brainer sort of colours, y'know?

Well, and since I haven't done one in oh so long... I'd share a little FOTD - Face of the Day... I had this look for my Drivers Licence Renewal. How time flies, it has been 5 years and now this new licence will stay with me for the next 5... Good gracious!

What I had on:
  • Gorgeous Cosmetics Madam Lash Eyelashes in "Miss Naughty"
  • Eyeliners:
Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in Onyx & Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner in Noir Intense
  • Lips - bare - just a clear Smashbox lipgloss
  • Face - Hourglass Primer & Foundation Shades 2 & 1.5 mixed 50-50
Hope you're having a lovely day~ Have a little blush and don't let anyone put you down.

PS: I'm loving the scent of Versace Woman Eau De Parfum, what scent are you liking these days?

Review in Minute: ModelCo Eyeshadows

A quick & brief review on some eyeshadows I acquired recently... while I was meaning to make another video but my voice has totally been taken over by a frog that's currently living inside my throat. I know, that sounds weird, but that's what it sounds like, right now. My voice has been disappearing and reappearing, it's not very, listeners-friendly. So here I am with "Review in Minute" :) Hopefully this will be a new series, would you guys like that? Short & sweet.
From left: Tahiti #12, Ibiza #13, Miami #10

  • Made in Italy
  • Smooth application
  • Gorgeous shades that you can wear from day to night (individual preferences)
  • Nice medium-buildable-high pigmentation
  • Overall: 4.5/5
-just because I haven't tested whether they would crease or disappear during the day - I'll update this :)
  • UPDATE:
  • blend easily, I could literally just use my fingers and done
  • stays put, no creasing for 5+ hours =) (but I did use Urban Decay Primer Potion underneath)

September Favourites

The year has gone by so fast, too fast. Did you know? This blog is soon to be 1 year old! Wow. That's how long I've been into makeup, and I must say, it's quite a passion. It's something fun to do... something rather liberating and empowering.
So here I am, at almost the last few days of September... sharing some of my favourite things of the past a month or so.

Note: I purchased them with my own money, none of the products were sponsored or given to me for free. All my reviews are 100% honest, my own and in no way paid for.

Let's get on with it, shall we?
As you can see, there are quite a number of products I've been liking for the past months. A few are actually 2nd chances products (those I gave 2nd chance to, after disliking them in 1st try).

Bobbi Brown Beauty Rules

I think this is worth mentioning. I really enjoy watching his videos and listen to his honest, no nonsense reviews. This is such an awesome rant from him... lol... 'cause it's so true. Plus, asian eyes categorised as 1?? We all know that's just not on... really... even caucasian eyes are different... yeah, alright.

A Piece of Me in September 2010

This month....

I like: makeup, I still do... and hot tea and tuna in cans~

I don't like: misunderstanding and not getting someone's contact details when you could and leave it till next time when you don't know when that next time is... =(

I want you to know: that life is what you make of ... and what you do with what you regret matters more than simply regretting.

I've planned: to find that little piece of peace and happiness

I want to say to someone special: I'd love to see you again.

Foundation Swatch Compare: Maybelline SuperStay 24Hr vs Revlon PhotoReady

EDIT: (21 March 2011)
This review is not up to date. I am now loving the Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Makeup Liquid Foundation - it's my go to foundation. It has impressed me and has won way above the Revlon PhotoReady.

Quick swatch of Maybelline SuperStay 24Hr & Revlon PhotoReady Liquid Foundation in the shades ...

What's On My Nails: Brown Bag In The Buff

Hiiiiii!!!!!

It sure has been some time since I play around with nail polishes again, I gave my nails some sort of a break from all the nail polishes I've been drowning them in. LOL!

So here's the latest in my nails "so-called-art" and these two colours, oh I've been loving so very much recently, and I thought, why not combine the two!? ^^

Beauty School 101: Sunscreens - Physical vs Chemical

Would you say that you are well-informed about sunscreens? In this day and age where everyone is slowly mutating to be so prone to cancers. Whereby carcinogenic is a term not alien to many of us anymore. Australia, being a very dry sunny country with majority of its land being deserts, continues to promote its advertising slogan "Slip, Slop, Slap"

"Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, and slap on a hat"

So what's a sunscreen? What's in it that makes you feel protected from the harsh rays of the sun, when we do need just the right amount of Vitamin D?

I found an interesting article online while educating myself on this matter, and I thought I share with you what it's all about.

Interested?

Haul Talk: iQQU Handcrafted Brushes

Hi again!!
This was meant to be a continuation of the previous post on ELF brushes, but since that turned out to be a gigantic photofull post, I decided to have it two parts.

Note: more brush-porn photos LOL!
Disclaimer: All products mentioned in this post are purchased with my own money, I have no affiliation or being sponsored whatsoever with the brand. My reviews are my own honest personal opinions.

So as mentioned I did purchase iQQU brushes from their website about few weeks back. I think it took them about 13 days in total to ship it and finally arrived at my house in Australia. It came from Thailand. Neatly wrapped and tied, I think the whole package had a homey, handcraft feel to it.

As the title state, this is a haul post, I have not tested out these brushes yet and have not actually washed them as yet. I will simply let you know what my opinions on them are based on first impressions.

Haul Talk: ELF Studio Brushes & Uses Tips

Hi everyone!!
How's everyone been doing?? Been hauling much?
It's still rather wintery here during morning and night, but nice springy weather during the day.

This post will be PHOTO HEAVY ~
I've made a video going through each brushes but here is better and clearer pictures of each of them.
If you want to watch the video CLICK HERE

Here I will go through my first biggest brush haul ever, and I'm really happy with them. All are soft, none are flimsy, none broke, I really like them. I purchased the 11 piece brush set from ELF Studio line and as iQQU was having a Summer Special, I had to get my hands on those artistic brushes. I'm a sucker for artistic stuff, or wooden/nature-inspired products. I'll do a separate review on the iQQU brushes though, I think that would be better, yeah? If not, this post will be just way too long...

By the way, all the products listed were purchased by me for personal purpose and to review for you guys!

Personally, I do think purchasing makeup itself need a balance of high and low end, and if you can find that middle ground - that's great. Not all expensive products are awesome and not all inexpensive products are awful. I do like purchasing from a range of ends, depending on the products.

Note that I don't own a single MAC brush as of this moment. I do find that they are way overpriced here in Australia. A 134 could cost you AU$105 if I can recall correctly, and a 187 would eat up a whole AU$85. So you can imagine how MAC brushes could leave you broke... oh so so broke.

So I'm always on the lookout for good, affordable brushes - even though at times I do splurge on 1 expensive brush, such as my Hourglass No. 2 brush - MY REVIEW HERE. Now that's another story...

So first up in my brush haul -

Haul: ELF & iQQU Brushes & Gift from roseannetangrs

Just made my very first haul video!!!
There's also brief reviews on the brushes that I purchased recently.

I'm really loving all these brushes so far & no complaints.
I mean, really, all of these brushes combined you can get just 1 MAC brush here in Australia...
Makeup truly, honestly, simply makes me happy. These packages made my day!

Ideas for YT videos

I'm just going to list some of the ideas I have in mind of what you can look forward to from my videos. I have some of these running through my mind for quite some time, and never got around to filming because of technical issues. =( But hopefully, slowly, I get to do them and my youtube videos will be more updated.

1) Lush Series
Here is where I will be talking about the kinds of products and which cleansers are normally for which skin type, or which toners will be for which, moisturisers and such.

2) Second Chances Series
Here is where I give some cosmetics products 2nd chance, and actually liked them better 2nd round than the first time I tried them. This actually lessen the numbers of products I regret buying, you know? Hahaha

3) Review Me Series
A bunch of reviews

4) What's that brand? Series
Go through a specific brand, some of their products and point out what's good and what to look out for.

and of course
5) Haul Series

6) Products I'm Using...

7) Products I'm Liking...

8) Products I regret buying...

It's a little bit of this and that...

Just me rambling for tonight...
Let's roll...

1) Need to get new mascara, running low and dry. Priceline is having a BOGO sale on Max Factor (All Eye products), so maybe this is my chance to finally try Max Factor mascaras? We'll see...

2) Impressed with Graftobian HD Creme Foundation, I shall check out the full size pots at IMATS, and shall get my mum a pot as well =)

3) Thinking of which or what powder would be best for my mum's mature skin? She wants the glow I get from my skin when I get slightly oily. MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural?? Or one of those HD powders?

4) My L'Occitane Olive Facial Lotion is running low, maybe I'll just use my Lancome Hydra Zen for now... but I kind of liking that L'Occitane Olive range... hmmmmmm

5) L'Occitane Olive Facial Foam is also low... =( I was using this range everyday, day and night, for like 5 weeks straight back in Indonesia.

6) Bummer to my skin reacting to the weather change. I spot several pimples and redness and dry patches - I didn't see them while I was in Indonesia...

7) My Lush Herbalism Cleanser is empty too =(

8) My eye makeup removers Neutrogena and Missha - both are on their last drops

9) Still loving MAC nail lacquer in In the Buff. Doesn't calling it nail 'lacquer' make it sound yummier? LOL

10) I have a love/hate relationship with NARS Multiple Stick in Orgasm. Some days I just want to give it up, some days I adore it.
11) There's a brand I found in Indonesia, and it's actually owned by Mandom Japan. "PIXY" and I'm currently using their Cleansing Water as face makeup remover/pre-cleanser. Just pour some on to cotton pad and wipe your face with it. Non irritant or cause any redness or itchiness, removes pretty nicely.

12) I finally watched "Dear John" & "The Last Song" (both are based on Nicholas Sparks' novels) and I must say I think The Last Song had a better storyline than Dear John. I cried in The Last Song... =="
in the end though, The Notebook and A Walk to Remember are still the best (imo).

13) People say the Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencils are the best and does not smudge on them at all. But I think it still smudges on me...?? It just happens to like to smudge on the corners of my eyes. Does anybody know why this always happens?

14) I should really do some readings, instead...

15) I'm hungry... and it's 10.40pm here in Brisbane... a cold winter night...

16) Wow, I can see through the frosty glass that I've used at least 1/3 of the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. Actually, it looks more than 1/3 but not yet 1/2.

17) I think that Garnier CleanSensitive 2 in 1 Waterproof Make-up Remover smells of rose and lilies.

18) You can now tweet longer with twitlonger.com ^^

19) So tempted to try Laneige skincare - it's a Korean brand with Song Hye Kyo as one of the faces.

20) I utterly am not happy with Australian phone companies. Indonesia, being a 3rd world country, has much better internet and phone services. Sorry.

Makeup and Glow Little Haul

The other day, I accidentally stumbled upon a website that's based in Australia (more specifically, in Brisbane -YAY! 'cause I live in Brisbane at the moment), an online makeup store called Makeup and Glow. They will also be at this year's IMATS in Sydney!!

Now I'm not sure if all of you have heard these brands, but I'm sure some of you would have at least heard of it or even tried it. I know there are quite a number of youtube beauty gurus out there that love these brands. What I mean are these:
  • Ben Nye
  • Graftobian
  • OCC Lip Tars
  • Temptu
  • Japonesque
  • Yaby
They do sell lots of other brands as well, those above are just to name a few.

I was like, "YAYYYY!!!!" and went ahead and purchased some items from them. I got:
  • Graftobian Hi-Def Warm #1 Foundation Palette
  • Indelible Creme Eye Shadow in: Plumkin (purple), Manhunt (charcoal), Intergalactic (Silver)
Ok, one reason why I wanted to try out these creme eye shadows were because they're 70% off. LOOK HERE!
So you see why I was curious and got myself some. Originally I wanted the Immortal (Lilac Pewter) and Ever After (Metallic Purple) but they both were out of stock, so I got what's in stock. And even though the jar looks rather tiny compared to MAC Paint Pot, the quality and for that price, I am impressed. You'll see what I mean soon, in the photos.

This is what the palette looks like with the case on...
This is what's on the back... labelling each shade.
Here's what the colours look like...
And somehow, my darkest shade, which is called Enchantress (very far right) looks like this...
I did contact Makeup and Glow and asked about it, they said it's normal for creme foundations to have the pigments pop up on the top? Hmm, ok. I haven't really had much experiences with creme and hence so intrigued by Graftobian.

A quick swatch of the foundation from darkest to lightest in the Warm #1 Palette

with flash
from left: Enchantress, Temptress, Vixen, Ingenue, Graceful Swan

and
without flash (natural light)
Which one do you think is my shade?? ^^

Quick Review (since I haven't worn them on my face yet!)

PROS:

  • very creamy
  • very pigmented, super pigmented
  • works as concealer as well so it's like foundation/concealer on the go
  • when you first swipe the foundation, you can feel the layer of moisture
  • you can mix and match the foundation according to your current skin shade
  • travel friendly
  • great for makeup artist who wants to carry several foundation shades at a time
  • clear lid to allow you to see the shades
Price: AUD29.00

And here's what the 3 creme eye shadow look like (alongside their boxes)
On the front, it looks like this
Description on the box
And, next to MAC Paint Pot, it does look small... but I'm sure it'll last me awhile, anyway.
I think the colors are true to what they look like in the jar, but with different lights and different angles, they seem to change slightly. As you can see in the following two photos. (both with flash)
here, you see that the colour of the silver looks very silver.
but
and here without flash
Then I thought, I'd go in the shower with it on. Lots of foam went all over it, warm water poured onto it and everything. The result? I'm amazed... Look!
I rubbed across it pretty hard too! It didn't smear or smudge or budge!
So, here's my little review on it:
  • waterproof
  • won't budge or smear or smudge or move
  • long lasting
  • would work both as cream eyeshadow and cream/gel eyeliner
  • texture is quite creamy and easy to work with
  • glides on effortlessly
  • once you let it set, it really does not move
Price: currently 70% off, so it's down to AU$5.95 each

Alright, that'd be all. Have you heard or tried Graftobian? What's your current favourite foundation? I'm yet to find my HG, a long and winding journey that is ... teeheehee

It's still winter in Brisbane...

Hi everyone!

It's cold cold cold here in Brisbane tonight and my fingers are struggling to type. It has been quite some time since I last blog, but here I am...

First thing first, I have to mention roseannetangrs MEGA Lush Giveaway~

And I don't know if you noticed... but I had to reread and reread it to make sure, and yes whoa... I got mentioned! Thank you Roseanne!!

It's an awesome, awesome, giveaway with tons of Lush favourite products worth of winning!! Go check out her youtube channel if you haven't and subscribe~ She also has a Facebook page CLICK HERE

So back to my ramblings...

I noticed that when I applied my Hourglass Veil Fluid Foundation in Indonesia and Singapore, I could achieve the effortless, 'my skin but better' look in no time, and I would be happy to walk out the door with or without checking my face in front of mirror first. Somehow, however, I cannot do that here in Brisbane, Australia, the land of 4 seasons. Strange, if you ask me, for this is a US cosmetics brand. What have I done wrong? Or what could I do to improve my technique of foundation application? I find that it doesn't seem to melt into my skin as effortlessly, and there seems to be separations or worse, creeping into the fine lines and ball up to become dry patches. Oh My Goodness...Maybe it's not as bad as it sounds... hahaha

And to show you what I mean, here's a little shot (photos aren't of the best quality, but I think it still shows you a bit of what I mean...?) the following photos were taken back in Indonesia. Wearing Shade No. 2. Taken outdoor, in natural light.

And here was a shot about a day ago, outdoor. Taken with my iphone though, so I guess it isn't the best quality either... however!! I can see a slight difference in the colour of my face and my chest. My face seems to be slightly tanner? I wonder if the sunlight in Indonesia and Singapore... and the sunlight in Brisbane/Australia... plays a part in how this foundation looks on me? It's a thought... that boggles my mind.

Anywhooosss... I went to the MAC counter at David Jones today and asked whether they have testers for MAC Face and Body Foundation, because I am very interested in it at the moment after hearing reviews from lollipop26 (youtube), and other reviews online... and guess what. It's not available... to us in Brisbane!! Only at MAC Pro Stores in Sydney and Melbourne. How sad!! =( So I think I'll wait till IMATS in Sydney next month :D

Oh by the way, to all living in Australia... I saw that Revlon is having a sale on all, I repeat, ALL their foundations at the moment. All their foundations are now down to AU$29.95. You can spot them at Priceline, Terry White Pharmacy, and even David Jones at that same price. So with my 10% staff discount at David Jones, I gave in and purchased... *drumrolllll*

Hahaha... I so gave in.... sue me! These are normally, originally AU$36.95. So it's like $10 Off for me. Me likey sales.
Luckily I read tons of reviews and checking out face chart before purchasing this, if not I would not have really be well informed about the fact that their shade numbering is way off. 004 Nude is slightly too light, while 005 looks like I've got a tan, while 006 actually looks way much darker than 008 Golden Beige... and 008 and 005 look very similar, with 008 is a tad lighter. So I purchased 008 Golden Beige. My very very first Revlon foundation. I'm a Revlon foundation virginity is g...g..gone. Teeheehee...

Here's a little swatch on my underarm (note: flash photo)

You can definitely see a tinge of darker undertone as shown here on my underarm, but I think it should blend on my face, I'm going to try it tomorrow and hopefully, fingers crossed, hopefully, just maybe, maybe, it would be just the right colour and I'll be a happy girl :)

Oh and I think my underarm veins are looking green? At first I thought I'm seeing both blue and green, but I'm not sure, I could be wrong, but I still think I'm more NC than NW.

Now I'll just post a little snippets of what I've been up to this weekend.

I had...

I went to...
Here's what Brisbane River and City looks like from one side...
And what I had for lunch today...
I shared with a friend! I could not have possibly finished it all by myself...

Alright alllll.... I've got school (aka university or "uni" as I'd mostly call it) tomorrow, so I best be off...... before I don't stop.

Talk to you soon. Real soon. As soon as possible. It's soon. ^-^ Mwaahhh!
