If you smoke... by Queensland Government

Launched in May this year, the If you smoke, your future’s not pretty
campaign focuses on the effects of smoking on young people’s physical
appearance. I have never been a fan of smoking. I don’t understand why that around 1 in 5
Queensland women smoke during pregnancy. How smoking has become a major cause of
preventable disease and death in Queensland. How smoking has become responsible
for over 3,400 deaths in Queensland every year.

Isn’t it crazy that female smokers aged 18-24 can smoke up to 20 cigarettes a
day. Not only it will affect your physical appearances, but the overall impact
on your health and wellbeing.

I received news that the campaign is doing the opposite of ‘make-up’ –
‘make-under’ – showcasing what you may look like being a smoker. I had missed
out on the actual opportunity of being ‘make-under’ but I thought I would still
share this campaign – I do think you have the choice to make.

For more information, visit www.qld.gov.au/ifyousmoke

The next road show is going to be at Sunshine Plaza, Maroochydore (Thursday,
23rd October)
and Westfield Garden City (Saturday, 25th October).

Lush goes EGG-static over EASTER-tastic Collection 2014

This Easter, Lush brings you a super cute, generous collection ranging from bunnies, eggs to carrots and all that jazz! I’m actually super keen to check it out when it is launched in store and online nationwide on April 3rd. Let’s get on to it shall we?

First, we have Golden Egg bath melt ballistic ($6.50)

This is a brand new invention – an egg shaped bath bomb coated in bath melt mixture. Its outer layer dissolves first when you first place it in the water. It sinks to the bottom of the bathtub at first, then pops to the surface as the fizzing centre is revealed. The outer bath melt mix is made using Colombian Peace Village cocoa butter and olive oil from permaculture project in Palestine. The scent is of the Honey I Washed the Kids. Definitely inspired by the chocolate cream eggs. Yum!

Review | Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer SC-4

2014-02-18 11.45.21

Today I thought I would share with you my little secret weapon for the past couple of months ever since it landed on to my lap. I have not been able to put it down since, and carry it with me everywhere for those “just in case” moments. I really had to give it the full blown test drive, how could I not. It is the two-toned concealer by Laura Mercier.

Weleda March/April Promotion

2014-03-03 17.28.14

2014-03-03 17.28.09

Weleda is having a promotion this March/April months with 25% off the One-Step Cleanser & Toner.

It is an easy step to remove face makeup before washing your face. This is what I am using it for, rather than a sole cleanser. I prefer to double cleanse and wash my face after wearing makeup throughout the day.

This contains witch hazel which is an overall clarifying toner for the skin. However it may be drying if you have dry skin.

2014-03-03 17.28.54

The scent is quite strong and I could straight away tell it’s an astringent type. My skin is not a huge fan of it generally, so take note. Hence why I avoid the eyes straight away when using this. It does leave the skin feeling clean and it works alright in the areas I am most oily (on nose especially). Although I think it still does not cleanse as thorough as some other facial makeup remover cleansers, due to the fact I do test this when using foundation etc.

It is milky look to it but very watery, so this is not one to massage into the skin like cleansing lotions or creams. It is not as gentle, unfortunately, as I could feel some kind of either menthol or that sort of feel to it. I feel that this would work amazingly for teenagers and early university days rather than at my age now and onwards.

On another note, Weleda is a lovely company that has been around way way longer than my mother or my grandmother have been around! There’s gotta be something there…

You can find Weleda at David Jones, and selected health food shops.

Have you tried any Weleda product? Which is your favourite? Any that is a must try?

About Me | 10 Things My Hands Do + Heart to Heart

Happy Monday~
Let’s chat… ‘tis a new week, a new month, and it’s officially Autumn here in Australia. How’s everyone doing?
This post is slightly on the personal side, which I don’t normally dwell into, as a blog post, you know it. Although I feel, I may want to let this out a little, now, to get it off my chest. I want to acknowledge some things. It is a part of me, and for the longest time I am in constant battle with myself, with my own self. Perhaps you’ll get to know me a little better this way.

Good Afternoon FOTD with “Tanya Burr” Afternoon Tea

Who here does not know Tanya Burr? Well, now you will just have to know her. She is this cute, bubbly, inspirational, elegant lady from Norwich, one of my favourite YouTuber, a makeup artist, and has recently launched her own makeup collection consisting of lipglosses and nail polishes. Girl crush alert!!

The story is… that… unfortunately nail polishes cannot be shipped to Australia so we Aussies would have to do with just experiencing her lip glosses. Now, now, who here ever remember when was the last time I speak or even review or praise a lip gloss? Uhm, when was that… almost… never? Yeah, you could say that. However, this lip gloss has impressed me so so so much that it is worth a mention… while I am still waiting for a few more shades to arrive! Then… I shall do a swatch and full review of the shades I have. What say you? A YES!? YYessshhh, indeed!

Hair Care | AVEDA Dry Remedy Range

There is something I continuously steer away from when it comes to hair care, it is the word ‘dry’ and ‘moisturising’. I have been one of those sceptical kind, due to the fact that my hair has its own personality. My hair is flat, volume-less, oil up fast in the roots and I’m just not too sure what shampoo to use all the time. And it has colour running through it.

Come along this reformulated range from Aveda.

Aveda Dry Remedy range - lifestyle

I’ve heard of Aveda hair care range but I have so far only walked passed it from the outside of Oscar Oscar hair salon. I have not tried it so I was keen to see how this range perform.

On a quest for super-hydrated hair, Aveda, The Art and Science of Pure Flower and Plant Essences, sought inspiration from the moisture-rich forests of Brazil, where a serious solution for parched, brittle strands exists, called buriti oil.

What it is – is a richly moisturising ingredient harvested from the fruit of the Moriche Palm – aka “Tree of Life” – which flourishes in Brazil’s wettest areas. Buriti oil is powerfully hydrating and the key ingredient in this range.

A voice within me says “You’re f***ed
Yet a part of me keeps going

The words swirl in my head
Like clouds over a hill
I wish I was a wildhorse instead
Running with the wind…

I’ve made many mistakes in the past
How stupid to think about them now
I was lost and found
Lost and found all over again

This year is the turning point
I can feel it
But how…
’How’ is the key word.

It has always been a carousel ride
A never ending ride
I move forward, you pulled me back
Now I battle, with the demons on my back

Hair Review: Getting the Chop @ Tsiknaris Hair, New Farm

I was never intending to “get the chop”. I have been dying to get back into the hair salon to get my hair re-shape, trimmed, and overall freshened up. I wanted to refresh, that’s why I seek out the Tsiknaris brothers again to take care of my hair, and boy, did they do such impressive work. Again! I was bummed I had left my SD card in my laptop, so I had to resort to my phone camera. I also had forgotten to take a photo of my excessively long “before” hair… my hair was almost down to my waist, with layers past the chest area. Long.

You can read about my very first experience with Tsiknaris Hair here, where I talked in depth about the steps to recreate the boho wave look with my kind of hair.

This time, I told Bill and Chris that I want an update. Something that would suit my face shape, skin tone, that sort of thing. Chris even noticed how earthy my colour scheme is. Hah! Good thing too, he picked just the right hues to update the colour of my hair. I said, “Sounds good!”

I told Bill I wanted something with volume and that oomph feel, without having too much wispy layers at the bottom (totally do not suit my look). I also said, to rid of the unnecessary weight but still having the feel of ‘long’-ish hair. Tricky, huh? But you know what, they get it. Spot on. Bill suggested some looks, and told me his ideas about it. I said, “Go Ahead!”

Hi 2014! Review in Minute & New Faves

IMG_0407 - Copy

Can’t believe it is already the second last week of the first month of 2014… time has just flown by like no tomorrow, let me tell ya. I’ve been so busy off my feet and distressed brain, sick with fever, sore throat, sinus all that jazz… my apologies for the lack of post.

Here I just want to showcase some products I thought are worth mentioning, seeing that it is the new year and all, new products resolution. I’m always on the lookout for longwearing, longlasting product, and for them to even withstand the Queensland summer heat is an added bonus. If it doesn’t, oh well, but when I thought I should give up… I came across these products that had just wow-ed me so much I have to share it.
