Not Gold Coast, or Garden City, but Gorgeous Cosmetics. An Australian brand, used by the Academy of Makeup, I've mentioned it in my previous posts before CLICK HERE and HERE. I haven't been using GC for some time now 'cause I've discovered Everyday Minerals, so I pretty much been using EDM everyday. So I thought I'd do a GC day today... I must say, the result isn't as satisfying as EDM in terms of flawless face look. Blush, mascara, they're all great, but the foundation, for me, it's just nice but I prefer EDM finish. EDM is easier to apply as well, and better coverage. But I must not say about the coverage, really, because the GC foundation I have is of the sheer coverage, not full, maybe I should've gotten the full? Maybe next time.
Anyway, I told myself this is going to be a short post but ahh the ramblings.. hahahaa..
^Non Gorgeous Cosmetics products: - Coffret D'Or Mascara Base (<3) - Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer palette (<3) - Pupa Baked Eyeshadow Natural Eyes in 01 & 04 - Shiseido Eyelash Curler - Elizabeth Arden Advanced Eye-Fix Primer - MAC Transparent Finishing Powder
So, in the end, I still prefer Everyday Minerals as my foundation... yet to find my HG liquid foundation, I wonder if I'll find it in Guerlain Parure ExtremeWear... or NARS Sheer Glow... or Laura Mercier... We'll see... In terms of lip gloss and blush and mascara... it's L-O-V-E for now ^^v
I wasn't personally tagged to do this, but I thought it would be fun and a reflection of what I've discovered since I've only gotten into makeup just recently. I was reading Sparklemidori's beauty blog and was inspired to do one of my own. hahaha...
So here it is, a beauty tag. My first beauty tag. Just a bunch of list of products that I currently use and like!
Shampoo: I change from time to time, at the moment I'm using V05 Volumising Shampoo Conditioner: as above, I change from time to time, at the moment it's Pantene Deep Fortifying Conditioner Styling products: If I'm blow drying my hair, I'd apply Redken Body Full Carbo-Bodifier Volumizing Foam and Tresemme Heat Protectant Spray. Sometimes I use fingers, or my Body Shop or Jemma foundation brush, or Everyday Minerals Flat Top, or sponges Foundation: Everyday Minerals, Gorgeous Cosmetics, YSL, Stila Concealer: Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda (current HG concealer! ^^v) oh and Pure Luxe Banana Split for undereye darkness, I recently found that this works too! yayy! The following video is not mine, simply sharing what would be useful if you've been debating whether or not to get anything from MAC Warm & Cozy Limited Edition Collection. I've only seen it recently in my local MAC stores, so I'm still debating whether I would get anything from the collection.
Shadestick? Tinted Lip Conditioner? MSF maybe? The colours are of course those that I can wear for a lifetime, but are they worth it? For now? Maybe I should wait... for more special colours?
Any of you have purchased anything from this collection? Let me know what you think.
Unfortunately I don't live in the US, so I can't buy anything from this amazing $1 Sale at nyx.com ='( But you who live in the US, can click this picture, and take a look at the items currently on sale for only $1!!!!
Items include: I'd love to get my hands on some of their
I had full fringe before, but have been supporting the side fringe for about few months now while growing my hair... so now that my hair's longgger, I decided to try full fringe again! Hahaha...
And to end this post, I'll do a little swatch of the latest addition to my nail polish collection, and to my foundation collection..

Alrighty, till next time! Mwaaahh!!
Oh and I'm going back to Singapore for a couple of weeks next month. Any recommendations on new places to check out? Where are the sasa outlets? Of course I'll be going to Isetan, Suntec, Takashimaya, East Coast beach, Tanjong Katong even... I'll surely make a visit to Watsons too... But since I haven't been back there for few years now, I bet there are a lot of new places I know not of! ;)
NOTE: The following information was gathered from several resources and own experiences. I have no mean to plagarise or claim the terms and information to be mine 100%. I am not a doctor nor am I a pharmacist nor am I a specialist of this matter in any way.
Dysmenorrhea, or commonly known as "period pain" or "menstrual cramps" is still a problem a lot of women are experiencing these days. I know I'm one. And as I am writing this, I have a hot pack pressed against my tummy, wishing it would go away soon so I could get out and play haha, not literally 'play' but it rhymed with away in that previous sentence ... and I just would like to go about my 'things to do' for the day.So anyway, back to these cramps. It is a natural cause. Some women don't have it, some do. I shall try my best to address the kinds of pains that may be suffered and some remedies to try and ease those pains. There are 2 different kinds: Spasmodic & Congestive. Symptoms may vary, but both are caused by hormone imbalance. If you have the cramps in the lower abdomen area, then it's Spasmodic. This pain may be so intense as of the first day of period and along with it could be nausea, diarrhoea, headache and dizzyness.
Congestive, on the other hand, is a continuous, nagging pain in the lower abdomen and back that normally start a week or more before the period. This may eventually gets worse. It doesn't disappear once you hit pregnancy.
So now, what kinds of things we might want to look at if we do experience this annoying and excruciating pain?
In no specific order:
1. Get into balance This doesn't mean that healthier women won't get period pain 100%, this would improve your overall sense of wellbeing. Especially this particular time of the month, we tend to like eating junk foods, sweets for the sweet tooths such as chocolates and ice creams, coffee, and other salty foods. High content of salt and sugar would make you feel bloated and sluggish. Hence, try and eat more vegetables, fruits, chicken and fish instead. Oh and do not skip meals! And eat in small portions and space it out throughout the day instead of 3 massive meals. You don't want to feel bloated and feel nauseous later on!
2. Vitamins Intake - Take It! Now I don't mean to suggest "Go and take 10 vitamins twice a day" kind of thing. I simply refer to the normal intake of vitamins, daily or twice a day after meals. Multi-vitamins are good. And some other minerals to take note of that could assist in easing the period pain include: Magnesium, Calcium, and Potassium. Magnesium and Calcium being the most popular. Magnesium is important in the body because it helps in absorbing Calcium better. So you may want to increase your Calcium and Magnesium intake before and during your period.
3. Caffeine and Alcohol - Avoid It! Caffeine is commonly found in our daily tea and coffee. Avoid consuming too much of these drinks, as high level of caffeine would just contribute to the pain. It may trigger your mood swings, irritability, and the oils in coffee could also irritate your intestines. Instead, take herbal tea or lemon/hot water drink. High alcohol intake would only cause you to go to the toilet more often. They are diuretics, along with caffeine. Not good. It will pretty much wash out all the important minerals you take.
4. Warm Up Warmth could increase your blood flow and relax your muscles. I know this from experience, I always have to have a hot pack or heating pad or hot-water bottle or something warm or put on more clothes when I'm cramping. Place it on your abdomen for a few minutes at a time. If the pack is too hot, wrap a towel around it or place it outside your clothes, not directly straight on your skin, please... I don't want any complaints later stating that anyone has hurt themselves. It can get really hot, be careful.
5. Take a warm bath This relates to the previous number, the idea is similar. You can also try 1 cup of sea salt and 1 cup of baking soda to a warm bath. Soak for 20 minutes. Or you can get some lovely bath bombs and enjoy and relax...
6. Take a walk Or do stretches Yeah if you're in such pain, don't worry about this point. But! This is meant to be done preferably before your period anyway. Any form of exercise would be just fine to keep your body at balanced form.
7. Make Love I'm quoting this information from other resources and believe it or not they all always include this as one of their remedies. Interesting, huh? They all say that having sex with orgasm will relieve your cramping. This is due to the vigorous muscle action that generates high blood flow and other fluids away from the particular painful area that may have been congested, hence relieving pain.
8. Take Pills I confess, I'm a pill taker. Every month on this particular occasion I would have at least finish half a pack of those 24 tablets pack of either Period Pain tablets, or simply the Ibuprofen tablets, or recently the Ibuprofen plus Codeine tablets. Ibuprofen is the main active ingredient to relieve the symptoms you experience. You can get these tablets over the counter at your local pharmacies. Brands such as Neurofen, Advil, Nuprin, they all should have Ibuprofen in them. Just ask for Period Pain relieving tablets or anything that contains Ibuprofen. If Ibuprofen itself does not seem to work as fast or as well, try one that has Codeine in it. Start with 1 or 2 tablets after meal, take tablets with water or milk. Do not exceed 6 tablets in 24 hours.
Beware: consult your pharmacist or your doctor first if you have never taken any of the particular medication mentioned. And do not exceed the recommended daily dose, it is important to use it strictly as directed. Excessive intake can be harmful. If you have any allergic reaction, stop taking it and see your doctor immediately.
Well, I hope that has been helpful to anyone out there who suffers it too. Have a rest, and I shall talk to you all real soon! Mwaaaahh!
Note: All products were bought by me, these reviews are not paid reviews, just my honest opinions based on my own opinions.
There will be a number of products I will show swatches of, so this post would bear the warning "PHOTOS HEAVY - BEWARE" hehehe...
Product list: *Pure Luxe Eyeshadows (Samples)
*Scott Barnes Loose Powder in Sand
*Scott Barnes Loose Powder in Translucent
*Elizabeth Arden Color Intrigue Gel Eyeliner in Brown
*Everyday Minerals Base Foundation Shades
*Sportsgirl Loose Shimmer Eyeshadows
So let's get to it!
First up is ... *drum roll*
As you can see, EA's brush allowed me to make different kinds of lines, small precise line, big smudgey one... whichever you feel like it, this gel eyeliner is quite easy to apply and easy to blend. I got this at a really really bargain price so I just bought it anyway and while I had no idea what to expect I end up happy with it =)
These two Scott Barnes (SB) products are my first SB products. I've heard raves about his products and when I saw these loose powders at such a cheap price in strawberrynet.com post xmas/new year sale, I thought I gave it a go and bought the two. Both blends quite nicely on my skin, only difference is that Sand has finely milled shimmer in the powder, while Translucent is matte and no shimmer at all. Both are really smooth, really finely milled, overall... I like it.
Next..... *drum roll*
Yeap, I swatched them on a piece of A4 white paper to really see the difference... and if you don't see what I mean, they are really really hard to tell if you just see the loose powder in the sample jar. (NS = Not suitable = Colors that I have samples of, but do not match my skin at all)
Here is now a swatch in natural sunlight...
Unblended - I literally just smudged some on my skin...
Now, you see what I mean by... I'm having trouble finding my shade? I can't have ALL the shades... or if I mix and match them, it doesn't make that much difference anyway! Hahaha...
I'm thinking, maybe I shall just get Light Medium & Buttered Tan... >< style="text-align: center;">Pure Luxe Eyeshadow Samples
This was my first Pure Luxe purchase and I'm impressed by their range of colours!! I'm now waiting for my 2nd order from them =) They had a New Year Sale, so I made a purchase and hopefully I'll be receiving it by next week... Yayyy
These loose powder eyeshadow are easy to apply, pigmented, really soft, but you have to be careful of the fall outs, as they are "loose" powder.
Well!! That was quite a collection of swatch of the month hahaha... But wait, one last swatch
I promised awhile ago that I would at least talk about Sportsgirl Cosmetics range, which quite impressed me only recently. Well, here's a swatch of their Shimmer Eyeshadow that I got when they had a sale before Christmas.
Sad, the photo doesn't do these eyeshadow justice as to how they look in real life. They're quite pretty in real life, I really like them. They're quite nicely pigmented and blends really well, application is easy, no worries! The reason I didn't name them on the photo is because I didn't want to make false representation of them, as they do not have names themselves. I do name them myself, however, and place a label on each of the jar, but I don't want to confuse you with the names I've given them, so I shall leave it to your imagination what you would like to name them ;) If you're interested though, do leave me a comment and I shall let you know what I've named each of them.
Alrighty! I shall leave it here...
Question time: What is your Everyday Minerals shade (If you use edm)? Have you tried Pure Luxe? What other Minerals Makeup brands are you happy with? ^^ Leave me a comment!
Wellll, my relationship withLush is still new but I must say it's growing exponentially... I just have an insatiable crave to try more and more! So here are my latest Lush haul that accumulated over 2 visits to the store. Also, from these visits, I discovered that they do "samples" !! Excellent!! ;)
I discovered that Lush was having a special, "buy 1 of their New for '10 products (selected), get 5 free samples" so I immediately got interested and asked about what are the products I could choose from. Here's the list of the choices I had:
*Oatifix (Fresh Face Mask) - AUD$15.95 (1 tub of 75g) *Sugar Scrub - AUD$6.50ea *Grease Lightning - AUD$13.50 (1 small bottle of 45g) *Q10 Toner Tab - AUD$1.95ea *Hair Doctor (Hair Moisturiser) - AUD$14.50 (100g tub) *Vanilla in the Mist (Solid Soap) - AUD$7.95 per 100g *Coco Lotion (Hand & Body Lotion) - AUD$22.95 (225g big tub) *Volcano (foot mask) - AUD$19.95 (a big tub of 250g) *Strawberry Feels Forever (Massage Bar) - AUD$13.50ea *None of Your Beeswax (Lip Balm) - AUD$9.95 (1 silver pot of 10g)
And the 5 free samples you will get are: *A little chunk of Vanilla in the Mist soap *Q10 Toner Tab *A tiny mini version of Strawberry Feels Forever massage bar *15g Coco Lotion in a cute little jar *About 1/3 of Sugar Scrub
I was so close to purchasing the Oatifix Face Mask, but the SA told me it's meant for dry, dry skin and it would be toooo moisturising and toooo thick for my combination/oily skin! So it's a No No ... and as I was just about to walk out empty handed, I spotted the soaps and then the Sugar Scrub and got taken by it, and ended up with a Sugar Scrub!! Hehehe...
And so I came home with these freebies too!
The SA was really nice and gave me 2 free samples of face moisturisers: Gorgeous AUD$99.95 (so expensive!!) & Enzymion AUD$36.95 those are the ones she recommended to me. ;) Second visit,
I came in thinking of getting the bigger size of Vanilla in the Mist soap. I really loved it after using up the sample from the freebies pack I got from my previous visit. So I got myself a bigger bar, around 100+g worth first and I got more freebies... and I also bought Aqua Marina Cleanser since I needed a daily cleanser so as not to use Dark Angels everyday... and I also bought Breath of Fresh Air Toner because my Eau Roma Waterwas really close to empty (I quite like it so far).
This time, the SA recommended Imperialis face moisturiser for my combination skin, and she gave me a sample of it ;) so I shall check that out.
Interesting thing though, I didn't get a Sugar Scrub in the freebie pack this time, I received a block of Noubar soap instead!! Omg I wanted to try it but was not sure of getting a big chunk of it, now I get the chance to test it out first! Yay!!
Well... that's it so far. My relationship with Lush won't stop here. I can see Dark Angels will be a long term relationship... and highly likely the face moisturiser too... and I'm sticking to this toner for now too... and the soap is just so enjoyable in the shower... omg hahaha...
Lastly, I kept forgetting to post this!! I wore this just on Christmas... Alrighty, I should go to sleep. I have work tomorrow morning! I shall not be late! Catch you all later! ;)
So, what have you purchased from Lush recently? Any favourite? Any recommendation that I should try? ^^
You two have made my day! These are my first blog tag and awards! For my baby blog ^^ ... Thank you ladies!! If you haven't checked out their blogs, please do so, they are wonderful bloggers, real sweet, and it shows in their blogs.
Now to the Once upon a time Tag... I got tagged by Fifi: (thank you Fif ^^) 1. Post a picture from your childhood (less than 13 yrs old). 2. Write about the picture. 3. Tag your friends and readers.
I must admit, I had a slight difficulty choosing a photo. My parents were so crazy about photographs, that we have literally millions of photos from when we were kids and throughout the year my mum still loves to take photographs of every possible chances and events we have, so going through them is sort of ... no I mean, choosing one is sort of choosing just 1 eyeshadow from thousands of them. hehehe... But although they are all amusing photos, there aren't too many that I could write a story on. And there are only a few I have saved in my hard drive, the rest are all in photo albums stored away in cupboards... Hahaha, that really made the selection much smaller.
Anyway... I found this.
My mum told me I was 5 months old in this photo. Just a month after my parents decided to shave my head. There was a really really hot summer weather at that time in Surabaya (a city in East Java, Indonesia, where I was born and where I grew up) and I was getting rashes or something, because it was just so so hot, hence the shave, so I had to grow new hair haha... was alright, except the fact that I was mistaken for a baby boy everytime my parents went out with me in the pram, but they saw the earrings and went.. "Ooohh what a cute baby booyyyy... no I mean, giiiiirrll!!" Hahaha...
Taken from Toothfairy's blog: This game is to share a piece of you, every month. That way, you and your readers can see what's happening in your life, including the changes. I.E. one month, you might love chocolate, a few months later you've might come to hate it. It's also to remind ourselves of people you love and the plans you have.
So for this month... the 1st month of the year twenty ten... 2010...
I like: finding out my foundation shades, just to test it out, to further understand my undertone and skin shade. It is so tricky finding out shades, it seems like there's always more than 1 shade that match!! =S I also have just started a loving relationship with Lush, Everyday Minerals and Yves Saint Laurent...
I don't like: too hot or humid of a weather... annoying when I wake up to such humidity and annoying to sleep to... lol
I want you to know: that I'm keeping my options open, and that I'm still figuring things out as to what to do with my life... to go overseas, career pathway, I have to think about it all and figure it all out... soon...
I've planned: to find my foundation shade in Everyday Minerals, and to be more balanced in my eating habits and exercise... and to graduate by the end of this year.
I want to say to someone special: that I'm sorry but you're just a friend...
OKAY!! Your turn!!! =D Either leave a comment down below or post one in your blog and let me know ... don't forget to let Shirley the Toothfairy know too!! ;)
It's 4.30 in the morning and I am still awake. No!! Why!! I can even hear the birds chirping outside my window... welcoming the new day. The kookaburras are laughing already! It's dawn... and I'm not even sleeping. And I have work, later... lucky I don't start till midday...
So, it's 2010. Wow. It felt like it was just January 2009! It's not January 2010!! I have to keep reminding myself to write '10 instead of '09, you know when the year just changed and cause you're so used to writing that particular year, you just tend to miswrite the year? lol!
I find that 2009 has been an interesting year. It's the year I started blogging regularly and publicly. It's the year I really got myself addicted to makeup and skincare. It's the year my face is clearest. It's the year with many laughter with new group of friends. It's also the year of good bye to a close friend who moved overseas. It's a year full of adventures and experiences... that I'll never forget. It's also the year I view youtube for reviews on makeup products and got myself an account in makeupalley.com ... It's a lot of things! I also tried Lush for the very first time.. and I love it! It's also the year I purchased my first OPI and China Glaze nail polishes... and MAC... and makeup brushes... everything! I also started using face masks that I've never used before. All happened just recently. I'm such a noob.
OMG someone is awake! Maybe it's my dad! I better head to bed. ><" Nite! Nite! No wait.. Good morning! Goodnight from me, though!! Byyyyeeeeee!!
Oh oh before I go... here are some new shots of our almost 3 months old puppy, Rama:
