The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

I love a good adventure story, one that is told in such a way that lures you in, makes you feel you are there amongst them, having an adventure yourself too!
The Hobbit was one.

Yeap, there are 13 of them.the-hobbit-2012-bilbo
Being a hobbit, Bilbo Baggins and adventure are two words that would normally never come together in one sentence or a picture or any kind of story ever told. Or thought of. Hence it being an ‘unexpected’ journey.
THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY...MARTIN FREEMAN as the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins in the fantasy adventure THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), released by Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM.
Here, a shot from the movie, is Bilbo racing through the fields of “Hobbit town” trying to catch up to Gandalf and the dwarves. What a scene. The place is just… breath taking.
I find that I’m just silently gasping in my seat with each and every moment the scene moves from one field to another, from trees to trees and mountains to mountains. Simply breath taking… not the main reason why I want to visit New Zealand, but hey if that’s where Lord of the Rings and The Hobbits were filmed, might as well. ^_^
Then that Rivendell, where the elves live. Aah…
This movie makes me think, wishing that they had done Eragon justice and do a better job because it is on the same genre and area of story.
Galadriel_-_ROTK
Cate Blanchett as Galadriel was just… magical somewhat. She represents the Lady of Lorien, the elder of the elves so full of grace. As though she came from the moon, lit from within. I know, it’s just a movie. But I like to think that it’s imagination and dreams that makes life interesting.
P.S. She is the grandmother of Arwen – played by Liz Tyler in LOTR.
Gollum was introduced in here as well, alive and hidden from common people under the Misty Mountains. He has already transformed into the ‘Gollum’ that we know. I think it would be interesting to see if they do an extended storyline of what Gollum was like when he was Smeagol and just his journey, and how he transformed into Gollum. Yes I know they did show this briefly in the LOTR but somehow I want to know more. Perhaps I’d just read the book someday.

I did not know how to fault this movie. The gore and the blood, the imaginations, the creepyness were all there. The characters are just brilliant.
Mind you, I haven’t read the book. Don’t judge if you are a fanatic and curse me for not reading it yet. But as a movie, it was wonderful to watch. I enjoyed it.
Now could you please do Eragon justice and do better job on the movies in the future?

Have you seen The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey?
This is Part 1 of 2 3 parts, the 2nd part is to be released in December this year, I believe. Can’t wait!

By the way, how cute is this cartoon version of Bilbo in The Hobbits back in the 90's!!

Sorry to break it to you, but there's actually 3 parts. The third part is due out 2014. I'm sad I have to wait that long.
