I’ve hit pan… that says a lot.

Story

I received a free mini Laguna in one of Mecca Cosmetica gifts many moons ago. I used it so much, carried it with me everywhere, and look at it, it’s battered and done. When it was on its last crumbs, the fact that I really loved it and loved how it looks on me, I could not get it off my head. I gave in, much to my reluctance, and bought the full size. Now I’ve hit pan, on the full size.

Laguna is indeed one of the most talked about bronzer in the beauty world, apart from Chanel Tan de Soleil and many other bronzers that may come our way. That was actually the reason why I was so reluctant on purchasing the bronzer itself, merely because I did not really need to review or try out something that ‘everyone’ is raving about. Perhaps it is all a hype and I would be disappointed once I have one in hand. You know that feeling…

But Boy, was I proven wrong! I fell in love with it. A little… too much. So it’s about time I pen down my thoughts on it.

The colour itself is a medium-tan brown, which gives off a warm, golden tone finish sans the gold flecks. It is not dirty nor muddy. The colour payoff is good, is buildable, and blends seamlessly. I love that it does not emphasise any pore or goes blotchy. Just how I’ve titled this post – silky, soft and smooth. Not that it’s a tofu or anything… hmm, tofu..

It wears really well on me, lasting a true whole day without disappearing or fading. It is not cakey and it always, always looks natural.

I use this mainly to contour – cheekbones, temples, jawline, under my chin, a touch on the top of my forehead and a brush along the sides of my nose. It is also works so nicely to warm up the complexion.

Brushes to use vary from MAC 109 to Real Techniques Contour brush to large tulip shape to a large fluffy brush to small blush brush to angled blush brush. The choice of brush depends on the look that I am going for, whether it sculpted, sunkissed or just a light wash on my cheeks on a ‘no makeup’ makeup day.

A lot of my face front photos that you may have seen either here or on Instagram would most likely be using NARS Laguna as contour. No photoshop or retouching…

For example…

There are other photos with me wearing Laguna, but do you get the effect that I am talking about? Can you see in the photo above, that Laguna manages to warm up the face without looking overly bronzed? It has also softly sculpted my face so it does not look as flat… as we, Asians, know our faces tend to be flat… genetically, generally. Heck, I have quite a lot of cheek space.

NARS Laguna is available to purchase in Brisbane and Australia-wide
in store from Mecca Maxima and Mecca Cosmetica for AUD$55.

For those with darker complexion (NC40 and above, I’m around NC25, NARS Punjab) don’t you worry, NARS bronzers come in 2 other shades – Irresistiblement and Casino. I suggest you test it out in store and wear it out first to see which suits you best.
