The Cupcake Bakery @ Creek St, Brisbane CBD

How cute is this place!

The Cupcake Bakery is located at around the corner of Creek St and Queen St. It was leading up to Christmas when my friend and I popped by to check them out.

If you are into cupcakes this is definitely worth going, however…

I am on the not too big of a fan of cupcakes. Sometimes I might feel like it but most times the frosting puts me off. Yeah, now you know.

Totally irresistible wall décor, though!

Doesn’t it remind you of Alice in Wonderland somehow with the bunny?

Oh wait, there’s a flying apple… Snow White!?

A cat… The Aristocrats?

Oh! I see a hummingbird… Pocahontas?

Mrs Teapot! Beauty and the Beast! OMG!

Okay now it’s turned to a Disneyesque wallpaper… ah, my imagination. I can’t argue with thee.

The uber cute “Red Velvet” cupcake – though cute…

This was on the dry crumbly side of cupcake. If you like that, then go for it. I prefer a moistier texture.

The frosting is just icing, rather tasteless and just sugary, if you ask me. I told you I’m not a big fan of frosting. Unless it is cream cheese or just the plain ol’ dusting sugar. Still, don’t bake me cupcakes.

Nonetheless it is so cute that it’s worth another photoshoot…

With the “Lemon Poppyseed”.

This Lemon Poppyseed, now where shall I start?

The cupcake itself is not too bad, still dry and crummy but it has the characteristics of lemon and poppyseed. Tick. The topping on the icing on the other hand… those are NOT, I repeat, NOT real orange peels or lemon cubes.

They are sugary sugar hard lollies.

Eh?

Yeah, nope. Not my kinda thing.

Again, this may be a bias opinion due to my personal preferences.

Iced Coffee x2

Iced Coffee is meant to be… “iced” right? Cold?

Yeah these were… not cold. x2

WHY!!!!!

We had to ask for ice on the side.

-

Cute décor, cute place, cute looking cupcakes, cozy tables and chairs…

Perhaps you’ll give it a try and tell me if you enjoyed it better than I did?

-

On another note, it was nice and quiet in there and had a really nice afternoon with my friend chatting away while picking on our cupcakes.

-

More places for me to check out and share with you where to go in Brisbane? Of course!

Oh that's disappointing. I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of cupcakes either, but for me I love the frosting and not the cake part, usually because the cake part is dry :( if you'd said the cake was moist I would have been there in a heartbeat!

The cupcakes in Melbourne are a lot better.

The lemon and poppy seed has candied peel on top, so it's not hard.

For my 21st birthday, this year, I ordered a bigger (not the biggest) one and small standard ones. Here's a pic of some: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151222586409549&set=o.214516555246116&type=1
