Flash Fact #1: What is Calamine?

Those who have had chicken pox would have heard of Calamine. What is it, really?

calamine lotion

Calamine is a mixture of Zinc oxide (You might have heard it from sunscreen ingredient) and 0.5% of ferric oxide (aka Iron(III) oxide).

Calamine lotion soothes and protects the irritated skin. It does not prevent but treat the symptoms.

The lotion once applied to the skin evaporates, leaving a cooling sensation hence the itch relief. Make sure to shake the bottle first, because the ingredients tend to separate whilst left standing.

Calamine can also be used to treat sunburns, eczema, insect bites and other types of infections, as it is also an antiseptic.

Calamine can also be used to treat acne, however as Calamine can dry out the skin, it may lead to skin irritation where acne is involved.

FOTD “Naturally Sweet” Valentine’s Day Look + Reviews in Minute

I came up with this look by accident. I never intended to do a Valentine’s Day look, but when I was done with the makeup I could not help but think of Valentine’s Day and hence naming it “Naturally Sweet”. Why? Because the look is about enhancing what you have and follow the contours of your face and giving it a bit of a boost to “sweeten up the day”… okay maybe I just failed at trying to describe this look. Hopefully you get to see what I mean.

An Afternoon At Harbour Day Spa

I dialed the numbers, acting like a headless chicken looking right, looking left, looking back inside a parked car.

“Uhm… Hi. My name is Cendana and I have an appointment at 1pm at the Harbour Day Spa. May I ask you… is your spa a house? It’s 152 Shore St, isn’t it?”

The lady on the other line chuckled, “Oh my! For some reason the GPS always takes people to the wrong side! You’re on Shore St North, we are on Shore St West. Go back…”

“Uh oh… whoopsssss!!!”

That. That was the start of the afternoon. I literally went to a wrong destination. Anyway, all’s well because I did a u-turn and found that it was more situated at a shopping complex. Not a house, silly.

Review: The Jojoba Company Gentle Cleansing Balm

Housed in matte unbreakable pump bottle, this Gentle Cleansing Balm has quickly climbed up to one of my favourite cleansers. Mind you, I used to love the full lather cleansers, now I am enjoying the low-foaming ones and do not mind even the non-foaming ones.

Review: Lush The Sacred Truth Fresh Face Mask

By now if you’ve been following me, you would know that I am a fan of Lush fresh face masks. Their masks are made fresh and need to be stored in the fridge. It is superb for hot summer days.

TIPS TIME!
Depending on my current skin condition I switch up my masks and I picked up The Sacred Truth recently after loving Catastrophe Cosmetic. I’m telling you now I use “Oatifix” in winter, especially when my skin is dry from the weather and flakey and all, Oatifix is my skin fix. Something like that. If my skin is on the oilier side, I will grab “Brazened Honey” or “Cupcake”.

The Sacred Truth

Ingredients as fresh as papaya and green tea excite me, that was perhaps the main reason why I wanted to try this mask. It is targeted towards mature skins, however I thought it would not hurt to try anything that is considered “anti-aging” since I am almost in my mid-20s now… soon.

Not too long ago, Mizspa contacted me to write for their blog. I thought long and hard on this, not knowing what I should really write about. Fast forward to the month of January, their blog came alive and I was one of the contributors in their blog.
