Review: Face of Australia Gentle Makeup Remover

I'd be honest and tell you that I did not know Face of Australia makes a makeup remover, let alone a gentle makeup remover that is a dual layer - one of those you need to shake before you pour the liquid on to the cotton pad.

So when I saw this bottle of goodness in the Face of Australia goodie bag I received from the Brisbane Beauty Bloggers Event at about 2 Sundays ago, I was ecstatic. I don't know what about this kind of makeup remover, but I get excited about it - these bifacil/two layers/dual phase kinds.

What it claims...
You can check out its super cute poster on their website

Removes all types of make-up including waterproof. With soothing Cornflower Extract Oil Free Paraben Free

Face of Australia Gentle Make-Up Remover is an innovative dual-phase liquid that activates when shaken. With a tear compatible pH, this Oil and Paraben Free formula melts away all types of make-up including waterproof with ease and will not sting sensitive eyes. Contains soothing Cornflower Extract and is fragrance free.

Oil free? Now I had always thought that the top layer of the product is always oil! I guess I was wrong...? Gentle enough that it will not sting my eyes? I like the sound of that! Remove waterproof makeup? Yes please! I'm notorious with using waterproof makeup.

Now let's look at the ingredients, shall we?
Water, Cyclomethicone, Isopropyl Palmitate, Glycerin, Centaurea Cyanus (Cornflower) Flower Extract, Propylene Glycol, Potassium Phosphate, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Chloride, Benzyl Alcohol, Lauralkonium Chloride.

Sodium Chloride? If my memory serves me right, is salt... isn't it not? Yes it is! That's incredibly interesting! Seems like it is common across dual phase makeup removers - it is listed in the Erno Laszlo Multi-pHase Makeup Remover, US Target Up&Up Dual-phase makeup remover, and many others.

Now that we have the organic chemistry sorted let's see how well it performs, shall we?

Here's some stubborn waterproof liquid eyeliners...
(Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner on top & Missha M Super Extreme Waterproof Eyeliner on bottom)
Then do the shake... When you shake it, the liquid will become cloudy and slightly foamy but it is by no means soapy.
The liquid itself is clear, just like water. It has no fragrance and is not oily. Pouring is an ease with its opening under the screw top. No spill - no mess.
And wah lah! Gone!
So, the verdict is...

It is indeed gentle
It does not sting my eyes
It is not oily
It does not leave a film of oil mess all over my eyes
It does not blur my vision
Secure screw top lid with

Will I repurchase when I run out?
