Film: TEKKEN the movie

and the cast of Jin Kazama goes to Jon Foo (aka Jonathan Patrick Foo)

Jon Foo aka Jonathan Patrick Foo is an English actor and model, and also a Wushu guy ^^ - plays Jin Kazama, the main character, the leading man, in the Tekken movie.

You should check out his action demo HERE

The movie started with a scene that makes you sort of wonder what happened before?? And they take you back 5 days earlier and enter a boy, Jin. He's the best around town to cross towns in the midst of divided and chaotic futuristic world they live in. They introduce you to each characters and take you to the one tournament... and while others fight for glory or for honour or pride, Jin will fight for revenge.

This movie is quite a refreshing sort of movie, as even though you might have guessed who's who or what's what or what will eventually happen, and if it did happen, you don't really feel you need to think too much to understand what is going on. After a movie like Inception, which I think is absolutely stunning and quite mind blowing and that made me think quite intensively after the movie (which I like to), after a movie like that, a movie like Tekken makes me smile. There were some scenes in the movie that I think are not necessary but they put them in there anyway, such as the sex scenes... which were rather irrelevant but okay, do debate with me and say they are relevant... however, really, watching it with my parents gave me the slightest uncomfortableness... if you know what I mean?

Anyway,

Gaming fans may either like it or hate it, but do please watch it first before you judge. Some things do remain in the game and you can play it as a game. And for your information, Jon Foo can actually do martial arts, he's not some well known tv regular that they picked out. He has starred in films just as extras or stuntman and has played alongside Tony Jaa in the movie Tom Yum Goong. I think he deserves a chance, don't you? ^^

I give it 3.5 stars.

Which Ideas Are You Afraid Of??

Have you ever felt frightened? Maybe of new ideas? Or are they old ideas? New ideas occur when things change, situations change, your thoughts change to take control of the changes and new ideas are born. So why are you afraid of it?? Some people do. Some people change because of these new ideas. As Mark Twain says, "A man with a new idea is a crank until he succeeds."

I read someone's status today, and she says along the line of having not afraid of new ideas but she's more afraid of old ideas. Now, now, old ideas? They are the past that cannot be undone. It is difficult... to come to terms... and a very good friend of mine told me that "peace" comes from within. Your thoughts - the way you think can be altered depending on how strong the thoughts of the person is. Thoughts... thoughts... could be the best thing... and could be the worst thing. As in Inception, "Your mind is the scene of the crime."

I agree to... it's not new ideas or old ideas that I'm afraid of. I'm afraid of no ideas. NO IDEAS!! That's the worst thing. What if I'm stuck at a situation and I feel 'I have no idea!!', now everyone has those moments. Most times it's just the plain old "I don't know" for simpler situations, but when you literally have got no idea in a situation you need to have some sort of ideas... aahhh scary!

Haha, enough of ramblings...

I'm not lost

I have not been inspired much to blog. The days start to seem like a blur, after my first week here in Indonesia. So many thoughts rushed through my mind and lingered there, but none were expressed out loud. If I could ever place them in a frame, it would be a collage, with pictures of everywhere and everything all together in one frame.

My days here have become thinking moments, days have not passed without my heart and my head debating over something. Maybe I'm just phasing over to that state of consciousness over what's around me and what I must do to better myself. Or maybe I'm in a state of limbo where everything just seems to fold over one another like dreaming about dreaming.

Yes I'm a romatic, yes I'm a deep thinker. But one can only think so much or dream so much and realise that reality is where the dreams need to be put into action. Dreams are great, as they are the sources of ideas, creations, thoughts, ambitions, goals, and future. As I am writing this now, I'm thinking, what was it that I just dreamt before I woke up?

So I sit here and move on.

I'm thinking of having Blog Sale, but I shall have to do that once I get back to Brisbane.

OH I must go!! I'll edit this later~ Toodle oo! (Don't you think that sounds like "to the loo" ??)

Continuation:...

I think I'll post some photos of what I've been up to lately
started early at dawn before the sunrise

I saw rice being dried under the sun

You can see the mountain outline

And I found these beautiful lotus flowers...

And what's a beauty blog without some products to ramble about... here are what I've been loving:

MUSIC: Yiruma "River Flows In You" with Lyrics

This has got to be one of my favourite piano songs... and one I can play too. Yiruma, the composer, composes the kinds of music I like and I thought of sharing ...

It's just so beautiful... so soothing... I can't quite describe it with words.
There are some things only expressable with music.

Review: Mustika Ratu Bengkoang 2 in 1 Face Cleanser

Brand: Mustika Ratu
Product Name: Bengkoang Whitening 2 in 1 Face Cleanser

Description:
(In Indonesian)

Mengandung bahan alami dari sari bengkoang dan akar manis yang membuat kulit wajah tampak lebih cerah. Kocok dahulu sebelum digunakan, oleskan ke seluruh wajah dan leher dengan kapas.

(In English)
Face Cleanser "Two in One". A new breakthrough concept from Mustika Ratu with two layers formula. Cleansing, toning and whitening all in one go. It contains natural ingredients and natural whitening essence from "bengkoang" roots and licorice extract. Shake thoroughly before use. Apply with cotton pads all over the face and neck.

Price: Rp. 13,600 for 150 ml

My verdict:
  • has a nice, pleasant, soft, gentle, feminine, scent that is not overpowering
  • cleanses quite nicely
  • gentle on your face
  • not drying
  • bottle has a nice hole opening on the top of the bottle that does not leak or squirt too much product
  • convenient size to carry around - travel friendly
  • nice bottle - although it looks opaque, you can actually see how much product is inside =)
  • refreshing
  • not sure about the "whitening" effect, that was not why this product interest me, it was the "two in one" feature.
  • NOTE: I'm not trying to "whiten" my face or do any sort of "whitening", this product interest me due to its "two in one" feature that lots of the other products I've seen so far, do not have.

The cost of this product is super cheap if you think about it in US or Australian dollar. For that kind of price, you would not expect much, but I'm rather nicely surprised by its cleansing power and doing it ever so gently and not drying. You just feel clean and refreshed. I think I might have to get more before I head back to Australia! Or if I find any other similar ones I'll have to try them out and test them for myself! Hehehe...

A little bit about Mustika Ratu~
The founder, BRA Mooryati Soedibyo (BRA being the abbreviation for Bandoro Raden Ayu - is a title given to the Kraton Solo Royalty Family line for the girls.). Yes, she was born a princess, in 1928. She studied the art of blending natural ingredients, herbal making, Javanese art of body care, and how certain plants have restorative powers and so on. The company, Mustika Ratu, was established in 1975.

Review: MAC Lip Conditioner SPF 15

(photo taken from makeupalley) MAC Lip Conditioner SPF 15
(mine is the jar)

It claims:
A lightweight conditioning balm for the lip formulated with SPF 15. Protects the lips from everyday aggressions, holds in moisture, provides gentle repair to dry lips. Contains almond oil, shea butter, avocado extract, wheat germ oil, and vitamins A and E. Petroleum-based to seal in moisture yet smooth to apply, non-sticky on.
Slightly vanilla-flavored.
Color-free.
Price:
JAR - 15 mL (0.5 fl oz)
Stick - 4.8 g (0.16 fl oz)
  • US $14.50
  • CA $17.50
  • AU $22.00

My Verdict:

  • Smells really nice! It smells lightly of vanilla
  • Moisturising
  • Holds moisture
  • Great under lipstick
  • Gentle on lips - no stinging, no weird reactions
  • SPF is a bonus - a nice bonus!
  • Not sticky
  • Clear, untinted, for anytime, all the time
  • Doesn't just glides off your lips but actually keeps your lips soft
  • A little goes a long way

Will I purchase again? Yes. If I ever run out of this... it'll be awhile though! I've been using this for months and I'm not even halfway ... the stick version may be more convenient and easy, but it has so much less product!

Review: The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

It claims:
Best if you want to gently cleanse and dissolve your eye makeup, as well as condition your lashes, with our best-selling mild lotion.
Key Ingredients:
  • Organic Camomile Water - known for its calming effects, soothes the skin.
  • Algae Extract - rich in minerals that help moisturise and revitalise the skin.
  • Glycerin - effective moisturiser, cleans skin and eyelashes without over-drying.
Recommended Instruction of Use:
Squeeze a small amount onto a cotton wool pad. Close one eye and place the pad over the eye area for a few seconds. Gently sweep in a downward motion to remove eye make-up from the lids and lashes. Avoid dragging the skin as this may result in the formation of lines. Repeat with a new cotton wool pad on the other eye.

Price: for 250 mL (4 fl oz)
  • USD$14.50
  • Rp. 99,000
  • AUD$18.95

My verdict (did not mean to bash this product - but just my honest opinion)

NEGATIVEly:

  • Is NOT as gentle as they claim it to be because: ...
  • It can be rather drying, not moisturising at all on the eyelids
  • It can sting your eyes - what kind of "gentle" are they talking about?
  • It can make your eyes red
  • I don't feel my lashes getting "soft as silk" or "TLC" effects
  • Does not remove waterproof mascara that well, need numerous swipes
  • Bottle is opaque white, you cannot see how much you've used, and how much is left.
  • a bit soapy - bubbles form ... weird!

POSITIVEly:

  • nice barely there scent
  • 250 mL is huge bottle with reasonable price compared to other brands makeup remover
  • it still does remove eye makeup (eyeshadows - no problem - easy swipe)

Will I purchase it again? No. There's better ones out there that does not sting or make your eyes red! Or dries your eyelids!

Why did I buy it? I ran out of my eye makeup remover just before I left to Indonesia so I didn't bring any from Australia to Indonesia, thinking of just buying one here. I found The Body Shop store and decided to try it out since it seems to have a reasonable price for its size - at the time.

Have you tried this makeup remover?? What do you think of it?

Quick Hello from Indonesia!

Hi hi hi! This will be a quick update from me here back in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia... I went to one of the many shopping malls today, and this one is called Tunjungan Plaza.
Note: I couldn't take many photos but I managed to snapped some quickly with my iphone.

And I went to one of the stores, called Matahari - which is equivalent to David Jones, Myer, Macy's, Tangs - not in size, just to give you an idea what kind of store it is... and I spotted...

Yeap!! NYX, Make Up Forever, Model Co next to each other! Right across it was a large counter of Estee Lauder, and there were also a large counter of L'Oreal, Revlon, and Maybelline. Huh? Maybelline, L'Oreal, NYX? I guess they don't know that these brands aren't exactly "department stores brands"... Hahaha... Can't blame them.

And on the other side, there were OPI, VOV, Missha and a Japanese brand called Opera...

And an interesting thing I found out today was that Make Up Forever will be opening its own boutique in Tunjungan Plaza!! Oh my!! MUFE is not even available in Australia!!

Now I got a little annoyed that there were no prices on any of the products, so I was like pretty much asking "how much is this? how bout this? how about this? that?" =_=" and what I could find out:

I'll also try and convert them... AUD$1 is roughly Rp.8000 at the moment.
AUD$1 = USD$0.8747 as of this moment

NYX Round Lipsticks - Rp. 60,000 - AUD$7.50
NYX New Square Lipstick - Rp. 125,000 - AUD$15.60
MUFE HD Foundation - Rp. 435,000 - AUD$54.40
MUFE HD Makeup Base - Rp. 350,000 - AUD$43.75
MUFE Concealer Palette - Rp. 375,000 - AUD$46.90
MUFE Matte Base - Rp. 495,000 - AUD$61.85
MUFE UV Primer with SPF50 - Rp. 325,000 - AUD$40.60
MUFE Loose Powder - Rp. 295,000 - AUD$36.85
ModelCo Face Base (Silicon-based one) - Rp. 275,000 - AUD$34.35
ModelCo Miracle Veil (Green one) - Rp. 495,000 - AUD$61.85
VOV Lip & Eye Makeup Remover - Rp. 106,000 - AUD$13.25
Missha The Style Lip & Eye Makeup Remover (like the one I normally use in Australia) - Rp. 85,000 - this is approximately AUD$10.60

Alrighttttyyyy, don't forget to check out my twitter: cendanak, as I do updates there from time to time (with photos straight from my iphone!)

Goodnight everyoneeeee!!!

Much love~

PS: Wow, my skin has completely turned 360... Remember just recently I was saying how dehydrated my skin was? Now that I am here in this tropical humid weather... I've changed back to being a greaseball!! But you know something funny? After having such dehydrated and difficult skin to work with, I'd rather have this greaseball... hahaha... We all need variety in our lives, don't we... Too much of one thing isn't nice... so at the moment, I'm just happily working with my much oilier skin and much more supple and hydrated skin.Teeheehee...

PS 2: MAC In the Groove!!! What a massive collection, right!!?!??!? MAC isn't even available here ... -_- I hope it's there at Duty Free when I'm coming back... and hope the things I want aren't sold out... They are: Jazzed, All Styled Up, Hang Loose Mineralized Blush and Stereo Rose MSF.

What are you eyeing from this collection?? How are you all doing?? =)

And be patient... I'm so so sorry, I'm so overdue to do my first giveaway, but I will do that when I get back to Australia!!

July 7, 2010

A Piece of Me... in July 2010

OMG, I'm so overdue... but but I just did not have the time, I'm so sorry... I flew on Sunday and spent 1 day in Brunei and now I'm back in Surabaya, Indonesia!! (For this July semester holiday)

So... This month...
I like... Indonesian food =) and concealers (for those days and times when you don't feel like wearing foundation or just no time...) and Lush Lip Scrub in Mint Julips... and MAC Lip Conditioner... and top it off with MAC Snob (satin) lipstick

I don't like... concealers that don't conceal or don't stay put, and the changing of my skin condition as season changes and as I move from 1 winter country to 1 tropical country... and getting sick. Oh and I hate having headaches... I get it far too frequent.

I want you to know... that I'm working on getting a giveaway and reviews and other updates... still need to get photos and edit etc...

I've planned... to check out the cosmetics range and prices in the stores here... and see what I find... and to gain more self confidence in things I do. Oh, and to get MAC Saint Germaine if I find it at Duty Free

I want to say to someone(s) special... I miss you I miss you I miss you!!! (to my sisters)
