Snippets from Birthday Night

Warning: Photo Heavy

Hiiiiii, I am officially 22 years old ... been in this world for 22 years! Wow, how time flies...
The day started with the rain pouring outside my window, letting in such a cold breeze through, which was nice, but I could not sleep in due to some "Mother" reason. Anyway, then I had to go to uni due to a prac class I have in the afternoon. Anywayyyyyy it all turned alright when I arrived at the restaurant, finally... I chose a Thai Restaurant and food was lovely ^^

the divine jasmine rice... we also had coconut rice, yuuuummmm

Coconut fish! YUUMM!!

BBQ Duck

And, now to the people photos ....

I love the necklace =) I'll post a photo of it soon...
It's a heart shape clock pendant.. I can literally wear it with anything!

My friends from 2 different countries yet they are good friends and go to same uni! What a small world!!

With my most adventurous friend who recently went trekking down in the cold Tasmania alone for 5 days!

Another good ol' friend of mine

Group photo! Yay!

with sisters!!!

oh and it's funny, I have a friend who always get comments such as
"OMG you look like Jay Chou!!"
So, do you think he looks slightly like Jay Chou at all? Hahaha!
Quite funny how he gets it all the time...
Now, now, no hate comments, it's not like he chooses to resemble Jay Chou at all, he's a good friend of mine, ok ...

Anyway, we topped it off with Blueberry Cheesecake! Yum!!
and few drinks at the bar
and since it's a Wednesday night, we decided to head home...

What I Think of... Hourglass Brushes

Why did I fall in love with this brand... and how I wish I could do a video on it right now...
These brushes... I soon will share why I love them so much and they're going to be my babies... I love love love the No. 2 brush for the purpose for applying liquid foundation. I've had problems using the MAC190 style foundation brushes and I have no problem whatsoever using this No. 2 brush to apply any kind of liquid foundation.

Here's a peek of what the brushes look like...

Why I love them:
- metal handles (nice weight to it, luxurious feel, doesn't get dirty)
- takelon bristles (no animals died for these brushes)
- super duper soft (they literally feel like rabbit's fur or little puppy's fluffy fur)
- easy to clean (looks new each time i clean it)
- no weird smell
- no weird, yucky, black dye
- just the right amount of pressure and texture and size (not too hard, not too flimsy)
- doesn't scratch your face (it's super soft after all!)
- flat bottom (means that I can place them in a lipstick holders or any kind of holders and they stand up)
- cheaper than MAC brushes (Check out MECCA COSMETICA AUSTRALIA)
- have I mentioned how soft they are
- they are beautiful (rose gold/bronzed metal packaging) - exquisite!!

Haha, yeah, I'm a fan... These brushes are my lifetime investments now. Not sure if I need to purchase the eye brushes, but the face brushes are essentials. Luckily I'm relatively new to makeup (only been few months since I had gotten big on it) and I'm yet to invest on brushes such as these. I don't even own a single MAC brush.

Anyway, they are available from MECCA COSMETICA now if you are in Australia. If you are in US or Singapore, do check them out at Sephora.
I know Singapore Sephora is still having the loyalty points going, and Hourglass is one of the brands listed you can use your $40 Voucher on. I know I have, when I was in Singapore months back. Hehehe...

Alright, I should get back to study. Thought I share a little of my love for Hourglass.
And and and!!!!! Can't wait till my appointment on 1st May with Michael Pierce (International Makeup Artist for Hourglass) !!! It'll be interesting !! This will be my first time ever...

Mwaaahhh!!!

Neutrogena Facial Sunscreen with Helioplex

The only sunscreen so far that boasts having Helioplex.

Alright I think that's it for now... I know there'll be at least a sunscreen from Kanebo and Kose as well that I want to try ...

What's your current HG sunscreen? Or just the sunscreen you are using right now either you like it or not... COMMENT below !

Quick Update & What's On

1) Hourglass Cosmetics is coming to mecca cosmetica !! I received an email invitation about their International Makeup Artist Event, which will be held on 1st May Saturday with Michael Pierce.
$50 will secure your place and will be redeemable on products on the day.

I spoke to the Sales Assistant in mecca @ Queens Plaza and they already have a price list on Hourglass products ^^ and when we were talking about it, she said to me "You would make their best advertising person!" Hahaha!! That's because I already am using Hourglass products and loving it! Foundation, brush, concealer... hehe... price-wise, yes it's quite pricey, but not as pricey as NARS... the prices are of the same digits as it is in SGD but due to conversion SGD would be cheaper of course. For instance. Foundation is AUD87 and SGD87 ... You can find Hourglass in Sephora Singapore ^^

There must be something about this brand that really grabbed me for I'm now wanting more of it. I'm now wanting pretty much their face ranges such as:
- Veil Mineral Primer SPF15
- Veil Invisible Loose Powder
- Oxygen Mineral Foundation Powder
- Prodigy Lipgloss
- Adorn Hydrating Lipstick
- Powder Brush
- Retractable Brush
- Trace Lip Liner
- Trace Eye Liner
I'm all about face makeup hahaha... and lipsticks (recently) and eyeliners, blushes and brushes. I'm still investing slowly on brushes, you see... since I've only been a makeup fan since 6 months ago lol...

Yes, I love Hourglass Cosmetics.

2) Loving Blooming Lovely lipstick from MAC Liberty of London Collection! It's very expensive here in Australia but I don't regret it. It costs AUD41

3) Loving Everyday Minerals even more now that I took a break from it for about a month ish and fell in love with it all over again. Plus, I got complimented on how smooth my face looks with it on!! I was surprised! I'm loving Swimming Pool blush as contour (see my March
Favourite post)

and Come What May to top it off on the high part of my cheekbones and as blush

And I've now been using Light Medium in INTENSIVE formula a lot more than the Original Glo formula. It brightens my complexion and gives me the flawless finish I love love love hehehe you can see I really am loving it. Everyday Minerals does it for me in areas of foundation and concealer and blush. I'm such a fan ==

4) Lush
Oh yes, what about Lush? For those of you in Australia, you can now take advantage of their current promotion of 7 Hair products samples for only $14.95! It's all personalised, you can choose from a range of products to take home and sample before you purchase the full size.
You get:
2 solid shampoo - which may I add, surprisingly lather so well and lasts for so long, it surprises me! 1 liquid shampoo 1 liquid conditioner 1 solid conditioner 1 hair moisturiser (compulsory in every pack) - H suan wen hua 1 hair styling gel/cream

For those with hair that's limp or slightly greasy or combination, do try:
BIG liquid shampoo (I lovesss this... yeah great English haha)
KARMA KOMBA solid shampoo (for those who loves the Karma scent, this is the shampoo)

Oh oh and seems like Brisbane is becoming more alive with Free Live Music at front of the Old City Hall ... wish I have picture to show you...

And a song I'm loving right now is by Daughtry called "Life After You"

"All that I'm after is a life full of laughter, as long as I'm laughing with you..."

MAC Technique Sessions

For those familiar with MAC, there are once-a-monthly technique session where the MAC makeup artists would show and "teach" you on "how-to"s such as "how to do eye makeup" or "bridal makeup" etc. Now Brisbane is quite limited in terms of MAC store locations. In the city itself, there are 2 in the central, 1 at northern suburb, and 2 far down south of Queensland (Gold Coast area). So in total there are 5 stores across the state, all in department stores namely Myer and David Jones. Not even all the Myer or David Jones stock them. Only Myer Chermside, Myer Brisbane City, Myer Pacific Fair, David Jones QueensPlaza (QP) and David Jones Robina.

Anyway, I've been debating whether to go to one of these technique sessions just to further my knowledge and to better my makeup application. I have found out that they do this once a month. Okay... that's okay... And it's different "topic" each time, so it caters all kinds of enquiries. I know I have (different queries that is).

So I'm checking out these MAC stores, and I have found out something quite intriguing. MAC QP is having issues that means they did not have a Technique session either last month or this month, and hopefully they will have one next month. Apparently, it is still under negotiation and meetings are taking place discussing the matter. I mean, wow! For David Jones and MAC to have such problems... for such big brands/companies... that's tricky...

Anyway, putting that aside, here are some of the current sessions or upcoming sessions that might be worth considering going to (depending on your needs and whether you are thinking of purchasing some MAC products worth AUD$120):

All sessions are held on Wednesday 5-7pm.

MAC Myer Brisbane (07 3232 0165)
April 14th - Advanced - This touches on those who are already quite good with their basic makeup application and would like to advance to the next level and brush up on other applications such as liquid liners, false eyelashes, etc.

May 19th - Natural - This is all about looking natural. I have asked what if I were to ask about blush and contouring etc, she said yes it'd be ok, as this is all about the face and natural makeup.

MAC Myer Chermside (07 3632 5132)
*Always on last week of the month
April 28th - Complexion Perfection - This is similar to Natural makeup but it focuses more on perfecting your complexion. Areas such as powder, foundation, blush, contouring all will be touched upon.

May 26th - Smokey Eyes - Need not further explanation, does it?

June 30th - Bridal

Price: AUD$120 (Must be paid prior to session night to secure your booking. Redeemable on products purchased on the night)

I hope this has helped any of youse who are thinking of going to one... whether it is to learn how to apply foundation properly, or how to use the tools of the trade the correct way, or smokey eyes, there's a session just for you.

Me? I'm thinking of Natural or Complexion Perfection...

PS: Liberty of London LE Collection is out in Brisbane today. I love love love Blooming Lovely lipstick, and that's the only item from this collection I fell in love with.

Review - Revlon PhotoReady Foundation

"Now, there's no such thing as bad lighting." so that's what Revlon Photoready claims... Be it indoor, outdoor, at night, in the office, everywhere, you would get poreless, airbrushed skin. Oh, really, now? Poreless? I go 'wah wah & gazes' at anything that resonates 'poreless', but to be honest I didn't place a high expectation on this foundation. Maybe because I don't actually own any Revlon foundation, which many people seem to rave about. Foundations are so individual, that the same colour may look gorgeous on one girl and look cakey and horrendous on another girl. And when I received a sample of this... I thought I give it a try. Was skeptical about the colour at first, since I could not choose the shade, I have it in 05 Natural Beige

Squeezed some out on to the back of my hand, I went "eek!" hope this isn't too dark on me or I'd look like I've got fake tan in the middle of autumn hahaha... Oh and I was surprised at how shimmery it was on my hand! Well, this is not meant to be a MATTE foundation, ok... Just warning those who loves Matte foundations...

I used my Hourglass No. 2 Brush and applied. Dab, dab, swirl, swirl, blend, blend...
and result turned out... not too bad... it blended well, I had to apply some on my neck to balance it out, the colour indeed was a tad too dark, looked like I have a tan, but as long as it didn't look orange or fake on me, can already. It'd do.

A bit about my skin:
- Oily T (forehead, chin, around nose)
- Combination (the rest of face such as chin and cheeks change depending on conditions)

PROS:
- medium buildable coverage (good coverage)
- SPF 20 !! (now, now, you know how I am with sun protection, this is great! most of other foundations only have SPF5-15)
- smooth finish (my friend commented on how smooth my face looks and I was wearing this!)
- natural glow (wow, yeah, natural glow for an greaseball like me? That's quite something... but I like it)
- doesn't just magically unexplainably disappear out to thin air
- runny texture makes it easier to apply and blend
- comes in a pump (I'm considering getting one for everyday use and leave my high end Hourglass for more special occasions... hmmm should I? BUT!! see below why)

CONS:

- feels slightly thick on my skin (I'm worried if I wear this on daily basis it might give me break outs? My face skin is quite sensitive in that way, and it has been quite a hurdle to get my clear skin and to maintain it, so I'm worried whether this would break me out... )
- takes awhile to settle on to skin, so you don't want to race out straight after application (I mean, it's not too bad, if you know it'll settle, but I have a feeling this might not always work on everyone... so it would look cakey on some, I'm guessing)
- I'll get back to you if there's any further changes as I've only recently tried this but couldn't wait to do the review hahaha...

Anddddd here is the look (I hope you can see what I mean by dewyness and smoothness... )
driving with Rama to and from the beach hehehe...

By the way, I made a blog just on "want's" hahaha... it's http://iiiwannn.blogspot.com/ -

that this is my birthday month. That it's Autumn... and Asian food. Butter rice... chicken broth... and choki-choki. Do you know what "choki choki" is? It's chocolate paste, in a tube. hehehe... squeeze it and eat! Yum yum yum!
I don't like.....
exams during my birthday week... or just exams in general.

I want you to know.....
that the past cannot be undone and the present and the future are the ones we should be thinking of... We learn from mistakes and we can always look ahead and move forward.

I've planned.....
to save enough to go travelling again middle of the year and end of the year. I've come to really miss travelling and exploring... To see the world...
I want to say to someone special.....
my sisters!!! Love youuuuuuuuuuu..... ^^

March Favourites

It's the end of March and is now beginning of April and Autumn is hereeee ..... ^^ and I shall do my favourites for the month of March and here they are: (I realise majority of these were bought when I was in Singapore... items 1, 2, 5, 7, 8)

1/ Hourglass No. 2 (Foundation/Blush) Brush or just Hourglass brushes

2nd from left. It's the most expensive brush I own, but I don't regret buying it. It has so far made my foundation application so much easier and faster to apply. Metal-handled and synthetic bristles that are super soft and firm but super easy to use as compared to the common foundation brush such as MAC 109. This lets you dab dab, blend, and swirl and blend all in one go! I'm in love with this brush.

2/ Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup Oil Free SPF 15

I have combination-oily skin and with this, it just looks natural on me, coverage is great (medium buildable) and it just leaves such a natural finish that blurs out imperfections. Not a matte foundation, just keep that in mind for those matte-lovers. A little goes a long way with this foundation, you don't even need a full 1 pump, and if you use that much it'll be quite too much. So this sure will last me quite a while!

Check out its rating at makeupalley.com HERE
I had no idea about this foundation before I purchased it so considering I didn't research on it before hand and actually loved it says enough.

3/ Everyday Minerals Blush in Swimming Pool

This has worked as contour/blush and I just really like its finish on me... gives me a more defined cheekbone =]

4/ Everyday Minerals Intensive Medium Concealer

This covers anything, from my undereye dark circles, redness, blemishes, all nicely covered and not cakey and lasts a whole day on me. I like it very very much.

5/ Palgantong dodo Kamayaki Cheek (Face Colour) in #01 Honeymoon Pink

This is my first ever product from Palgantong dodo Japan, and first ever product that I use for highlighter. The result is just the right glow I've been searching for, "glowing from within" flush. Next time I go back to Singapore I think I'll definitely get the other colours, they are great as blushes (with in built highlighters, hehehe). It's like marble, baked, and no glitter chunks, doesn't make you look like disco ball. The packaging is real lovely too, it has mirror and brush, so if you want you can actually tote this around in your bag, but I leave mine at home, worry it'll get crushed or cracked. Anyway, I've been wearing this almost everyday (on cheekbones, nose bridge, chin, inner corner of eyes, yeah everywhere hahaha) and I haven't left a dent on the dome! Awesome!

6/ Lush Big Shampoo

Now, I never thought in a million years that I would be such a convert... such a Lush fan. But but but, I can't help but see the difference. Their products (not all, of course) work! for me at least! And this Big Shampoo is no exception! It smells great, reminds me of Bali and holiday at the beach and sipping coconut drink at the swimming pool watching the ocean and the waves crashing. Hahaha, quite a vision just from a scent, doesn't it... Well, this shampoo leaves my hair feeling 'clean, light, not greasy, smooth, silky, soft, flowing, smells so nice' hahaha... Love it. Oh and the little grains of sea salt and how foamy it gets ... makes it even more enjoyable hahaha... To use this you need lots and lots of water in your hair and take a fingerful glob from the tub and yeah! I can just wash my hair once with this, no conditioner (I've tried) and it's great! First shampoo to do such 3 in 1 for me!

7/ The Face Shop Color Nuance for Cheek in OR203 (Shine)

In love with this, very smooth, pigmented, nice colour, and I really like the packaging, actually... hehehe... Got it in Singapore and for the price? It's awesome! Hehehe... nice for everyday blush, everyday, anytime. No chunky glitters but not too matte either. It's lively, brightens up my complexion if I could say so hehe....

8/ Biore UV Perfect Face Milk SPF50+ PA+++

Great price for such nice product. Doesn't leave white marks or white ghostly cast on my face. Blends in effortlessly, nice texture, been using it almost everyday since I got it from Singapore.

Alright!!
I think I shall round it up here. There are actually some lip products I thought of putting it here but I think I'll give them more uses until they come up to my favourite list, hopefully for this April month! ^^

Anyway, look out for upcoming giveaway ... I'm still debating and choosing what to give for you girls!!!! Any idea just throw it in the comment below , ok =]

For those in the southern hemisphere, have a great Autumn day!! For those up north, have a great Spring day!! Stay dehydrated! hehehe...

Oh and starting from now I will end every post with a quote.
