April Favourites

Ah May has started and I am now overdue with a number of posts! Waaahhh... Alright, alright, here we go... my April Favourites:
Oops... I realise I missed 1 product, but not to worry, that product is listed first...

1) Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer SPF15

What it claims:
A clean, satin-finish mineral primer formulated with SPF 15, Veil Mineral Primer restores moisture to dehydrated skin while providing protection from the sun and minimizing shine.
  • Minimizes the appearance of large pores and fine lines
  • Preps skin for makeup application while extending its durability
  • Naturally-derived Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide protects skin from UVA/UVB rays
  • Oil Free, Fragrance Free, Paraben Free
  • SPF 15
  • Water Resistant
Verdict:
  • Satin-finish - smooth canvas feel
  • Non-greasy
  • Really does minimizes pores
  • Helps the foundation to adhere and blend so much better
  • Foundation lasts longer
  • Foundation becomes waterproof
  • SPF included!
  • Comes in a luxurious bottle with pump!
  • Trick is to let it set for maybe a minute or so - don't jump straight to foundation after applying this
  • Expensive AUD$79 - but because it actually does work... I love this.
  • Even my friends commented on how smooth my face was, and I realised it was always the times when I used this primer!!
  • 5/5

2) Guerlain KissKiss Maxi Shine Lipstick in 643 Chocolate Shine
  • Beautiful, luxurious packaging, gold boxes that is a pleasure to hold between your hands
  • Glides on very smoothly
  • Moisturising/creamy/not drying
  • Long lasting
  • I've used this in times when my lips are dry due to the dry air con rooms, and this actually makes my lips looks moisturised and plump
  • Colour shade is close to my lips colour, so I can wear this anytime
  • I can apply this without looking at a mirror, because it glides on so smoothly
  • Non-sticky, non-slippery, feels just like moisturised lips!
  • Sheer when applied once, but buildable for more dramatic look (always handy)
  • Rich colours
  • Maxi Shine has shimmers and glides on like lipgloss but better, because it is lipstick, so it has the longlasting wear like lipstick does, but 550 is not Maxi Shine by the way, it's just KissKiss lipstick
  • I'm loving 643 Chocolate Shine ...
3) Lush Ultrabland Face Cleanser
What it claims:
For Ultra Bland read Ultra Special, because 'bland' is not really the best word to describe the power this cream has when it comes to removing make-up and other stuff that you don't want on your face at the end of the day. This is a thick, rich emulsion of natural oils and rosewater, with honey and beeswax to take off eye make-up, lipstick, foundation or just plain dirt, Even better, it leaves your skin softer and smoother, unlike most powerful make-up removers. Pay Attention! To use this take a fingerful and put it between your palms, smooth it all over your face them remove with warm water on cotton wool or a cotton face cloth. If you don't do it like this you'll make a sticky mess. - taken from Lush Australia

Ingredients:
Peanut Oil (Arachis hypogaea), Rose Water (Rosa centifolia), Beeswax (Cera alba), Honey, Fresh Iris Extract (Iris florentina), Glycerine, Rose Absolute (Rosa centifolia), Tincture of Benzoin (Styrax benzoin), Sodium Borate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

My thoughts on it:
  • Definitely not a 'bland' product! It's so far from 'bland'
  • Easy, no mess, unlike other Cleansing Oil that might drip down or dribble down your arms
  • Travel friendly
  • Melts on your skin, as soon as it touches your face, when you apply with fingers
  • Really deep cleansed and dissolve the makeup on my face
  • Skin feels smooth afterwards I'm not kidding
  • What I do is, massage the cream all over my face, melting it, dissolving my makeup, then I take cotton pads and swipe all over my face to remove the dirt! And woah-lah! done!
  • I like the peanutty vanilla smell to it, kind of like butter... butter with honey... ice cream... hahaha
4) Lush Jungle Solid Conditioner
What it claims: (from Lush Australia)
This is a revolutionary conditioner, made with loads of fresh, tropical fruit, which we pour into a long tube. Bananas and figs soften your hair; kumquats and passionfruit make it shine. Avocados release their vitamins, oil and protein to soften and protect your locks. Cocoa butter softens and moisturisers your hair and scalp. It fits in the shampoo bar tin so you can take it on holidays with you. What’s more, it’s vegan and perfect for all hair types, from wild beast to gentle butterfly.

Ingredients
Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Cetearyl Alcohol (&) Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Propylene Glycol, Fresh Avocado Extract (Persea gratissima), Glyceryl Stearate (&) PEG-100 Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Perfume, Fresh Figs (Ficus carica), Fresh Bananas (Musa paradisiaca), Fresh Passion Fruit (Passiflora edulis), Fresh Kumquat (Fortunella japonica), Soya Lecithin, Cetrimonium Bromide, Ylang Ylang Oil (Cananga odorata) Vetivert Oil (Vetiveria zizanoides), Cypress Oil (Cupressus sempervirens), Sandalwood Oil (Santalum album), Chlorophyll.

Verdict:
  • I love it
  • No fuss; no mess
  • No silicon coating
  • Softens hair; detangles
  • Lightweight; no heavy weighing feel
  • I only use it for halfway down my hair, I don't use it on my scalp because I naturally have soft, limp, straight, combination hair, so I didn't want to weigh down the crown/base of my hair, so just on the bottom half right through to the end/tips.
  • Do not lather, but it's ok, as long as the nutrients get to the hair
  • Can easily rub it through your hair and wash, no need to wait if you're in a rush. I normally like to let it soak for few minutes while I wash my body and then rinse.
  • Smells fresh, and nice
5) Lush Porridge Soap
What it claims: (taken from Lush Australia)
The very best way to start the day: a helping of porridge oats with lashings of delicious molasses. Ideal for sensitive skin; irresistible to everyone else.

Ingredients
Water (Aqua), Propylene Glycol, Rapeseed Oil; Sunflower Oil; Coconut Oil (Brassica napus; Helianthus annuus; Cocos nucifera), Pinhead Oatmeal (Avena sativa), Fresh Organic Orange Juice (Citrus Aurantium dulcis), Titanium Dioxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Perfume, Labdanum Resinoid (Cistus labdaniferus), Sweet Orange Oil (Citrus sinensis), Sodium Chloride, *Limonene. * Occurs naturally in essentail oils (NOTE: Palm Free Base)

Verdict:
I just love love love the smell of this. It smells so... edible. So yummy. You just want to eat it. But have to stop yourself because it's actually soap. Not nougat. It smells of roasted oats, yummy big breakfast, with warmth and just "oh, love!"

The little grains of oats also works as exfoliator. Awesomeness!

I find that this and Vanilla in the Mist lathers up a lot more than those soaps such as Karma. I think I prefer these "creamier" soaps from Lush... =] this and Vanilla in the Mist have got to be in my favourite Lush soaps.

6) Palmer's Aloe Vera Formula with Vitamin E Extra Rich Moisturizing Gel
(gosh that's mouthful)

Why did I get this?
Actually it's quite a long story, hahaha... but I'll tell you anyway. I fell at work, about 3 or so weeks ago and bruised both the areas just below my kneecaps pretty badly. The right knee swelled up to about bigger than a golf ball size... and the left knee swelled up to a golf ball size with a pretty deep cut through the middle of it (yes, it did bleed). So anyway, I was walking around limping with both knees strapped, and a girl from work from different department suggested to me to use Aloe Vera so that the bruises don't leave dark scars afterwards. I was skeptical but I went ahead and bought this gel when Priceline (a beauty/pharmacy store in Australia) when they were having a All Skincare/Cosmetics 2 days only sale. I started applying this gel all over both my bruises everyday, even few times a day whenever...

These bruises did look nasty, looking green with red patches all over it, it was weird... but! it did NOT... I repeat, it did NOT go to the purple/black stage! Now that's a first for me... Usually when I bruise, they go from green to blue to purple to black to dark patch... urgh! So anyway, I was intrigued... and kept applying this Aloe Vera Gel all over it, very abundantly I must say. Andddd I'm impressed! They don't look bruised anymore, even though they still hurt (the inside are still bruised, I still can't kneel on them) and wow, I must get more of this Aloe Vera! See how much I've used it up? I carry this everywhere now... literally, really.
  • Does not stain - YAY!
  • Very soothing and refreshing feel - YAY!
  • Absorbs fast, no greasy feel - YAY!
  • Smells so nice! So refreshing smell! Like a fresh drizzle of rainwater - YAY!
  • Travel friendly - YAY!
  • Multifunctional, you can use this on anything such as cuts, bruises, dry skins - YAY!
  • 5/5
Now I know I did take a photo of eyeliners there... it's just showing my new love for eyeliners. I've only recently started to 'tightline' my eyes, so yeah, I'm loving eyeliners... Those in photo are: Pupa True Eyes Eyeliner & Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Zero.

Alright, wow, that's my most detailed Favourites post so far, I must say!
